| Got thinking long and hard about this earlier on. I have only watched Widnes since 94ish, so this may shock you:
Mike Hill (I think his first name was Mike)
Anybody remember this lad, think he was Widnesian, short and very stocky, not overweight but certainly a big lad for such a guy lacking in height. Always punched abover his weight. Seem to remember his tackling was sublime, hardly ever missed one. Real work horse/
What says you widnes fans?

| Quote: Doc Holliday "Barry Dowd was very underated I always thought.'" Doc,when I saw this thread title, one name immediately sprung to mind-Barry Dowd.He was no world beater but a good footballer all the same.Always reliable without setting the world on fire,he was a one club man which you rarely see these days or even then.

This is why events unnerve me.: |
|
| John Myler.
Great footballer. Another yard of pace and he'd have been a GB regular in my opinion.

| I always thought Darren Wright was under rated.. If he hadn't had such an exceptional winger outside him he have got a lot more limelight...

| Barry Dowd was a great player. When the Chemics won the Championship in 1987/88, Barry played Stand-off in 28 of the 30 league games after Tony Myler was injured.

7294.jpg This is history. This is history. Right here. Right now. This is history.
I thought it was Widnes?
All games are winnable, whats hard to understand about that.
Wakefield turn over a big club every season and i see no reason why Widnes can't do the same.
:7294.jpg |

| Can't really argue with Barry Dowd either. I would probably have added Mike O'Neill to that as well. I've seen some videos of him running the angles down the centres around 1984 and he was fast with good hands for a forward.
Jesus I've just realised that is 25 years ago.

Seen a video of Widnes - Leeds circa 85 ish the other day, O Neil (Mike) had a blinder. Very pacey. Keith Bentley weren't a bad'un either
