He was instrumental in a lot of our victories, particularly once we started to hit form. How can you say he had the 'odd good game'?

| I can only remember Webster having two really good games, Whitehaven away and Fev at home in the play off's. The rest he was ok but nothing too special, having said that he was playing behind a beaten pack for the majority.

| Losing Webbo would worry me, the fact that Morrisons future could also be in the balance also adds to the sad feeling. I heard a rumour that Branigan has stalled on signing a contract at Fax because of the Widnes situation. I was told that a week back but it could be just bull.
Lets wait and see.

I can.. very much so. If he's committed to moving then why not move to the North West???
Plus he has to oust Black or Gene to get near the first team spot and I can't see them moving over.. then there is Govin!!
that is unless you are going to move Gene to play hooker or loose but you are already covered in those positions with Penky, Gleese and Beswick...
What it does show is that you are fairly heavily laden with talent whereas we have a nice vacancy opening up in the position that Mr Brannigan likes to play.
Makes sense to me. I can see now why he's been spotted at the Stobart recently.

| We won't have any players left according to all these rumours.
I've still got me old boots somewhere and I'll be off down the club first thing tomorrow morning.

Penky, Black, Gleeson, Beswick none of them play stand off. Govin plyed there in the Grand final and against Fev in the semi but as of yet doesnt have a contract.
so we have a spot at 6 for Branigan to come in at the minute if Govin isnt signed up.

| But Brannigan is a scrum half and you already have a scrum half in Black? We have tried in the past putting a stand off in a scrum halfs shoes and vice versa and there is no substitute for a man playing in his recognised role.
The point I was making is that you could move Gene to hooker or loose from SO which is where I thought he might play but you already have players in abundance in those positions too.. I can't see you not playing Gene so there is more of a problem than you recognise albeit a nice one.
We will soon have a nice Brannigan shaped hole ready for him to fill in his favoured role and everything!!!
lets hope if he does sign for you he doesn't jink his way through it next year!!

apologies.
my post was soleby based on the point that i thought Branigan was a stand off
if he is a Scrum Half then we already have Blacky for that job.

Dont worry he has plenty of experience playing SO in his younger days. Obviously being one of Blacky best mates helped in his decision.
If rumours are to be believe we may have 1 or 2 shock departures in those positions that we have plenty of players. All for the good of strengthening the team though. One of the players we are in talks with will be a real coup if it comes off and talks are prety advanced by all accounts.
