The debate will no doubt continue as long as we have the pitch, but Ian Kirke will be wearing skins tomorrow as he talks about his dislike of the iPitch to the Yorkshire Post:
www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/s ... -1-5810235
I would have thought that we would have been able to produce some injury stats about the pitch, by now, in comparison with grass pitches and I'm surprised we haven't published them, (unless of course they are not favourable!). Indeed I would have thought the RFL would have asked us to, given the occasional sniping that goes on from the players of other clubs (and sometimes their coaches).
I am not against the pitch as long as it isn't a greater risk to our players. A few posters on the TIW site used to make out that our players hated it and other players were reluctant to come to the Club because of the pitch. Given that none of our players wear skins, you would assume they are happy enough with it. Whether the old story that they were taking antibiotics on a regular basis as a precaution against infected cuts, was true or not I'm not sure. One thing the Club did admit to though was reducing the actual training time on the iPitch and mixing it up with time on grass.
I do wonder whether we maintain it as we should since I read somewhere (probably to do with Saracens pitch) that the "grass" needs to be brushed, whereas we seem to roll ours flat. Anyway lets see how it works out, both White and Cahill damaged their ankles on Bradford's grass pitch on Sunday, so it would appear the risk is no different.
I have always hoped that there were no extra dangers, but I am happy that the opposition might think there are and be apprehensive, putting a bit of doubt into their game!

Boom! That's a crunch tackle of an argument. Take Leeds off the pitch.

| I love it when players whinge about the pitch. To me, they are showing a reluctancy to play on it and less than 100% commitment to the task in hand. I hope Widnes get in Leeds faces ( and especially Mr Kirke's) and dump them hard on it at the first opportunity. Let's give them something to whinge about.

| Ignore him. He was the only Leeds player to run out in skins last year and is hated by a lot of Leeds fans for his lack of "balls" when taking the ball in for us.
I respect everyone who pulls on a RL jersey but Ian Kirke steals a living at our place.

| I feel a lot of the issues around the iPitch are psychosomatic.

| he is hated by a small minority of leeds fans with loud and misguided voices , who try to make the rest of us agree with their views by insulting us when we stick up for him

| Trust me, it's not the minority. I don't know anyone who enjoys seeing him trot into those 5 drives a game he manages. For a guy of his size and build he should be leading the pack ala Peacock.

| Was talking to a physio from another local SL club the other week and he said that he was under the impression that the pitch was going to be removed in the not too distant future.
He said that when his team played they had no complaints about the surface other than it was a bit harder to stop yourself. But he did say that a number of players had suffered infections in the grazes they picked up from sliding on the playing surface and were on anti-biotics. He also said that a number of our players were also suffering with these grazes that weren't getting an opportunity to heal.
From a commercial point of view I don't see the pitch being ripped up any time soon.

I don't see it going either. If the stories of infected grazes not healing was true then we'd be seeing the team run out with legs like leppers! Not doubting infections can happen as it sounds possible, but I just can't see it being a big problem.

| Quick question as I couldn't make the game.
Was Kirke the only one wearing skins again Sunday?
