| Just bought this weeks addition and read back page story.
Not that I want to bring up the subject again as I think we need to move on as a club, some very interesting statements made by all parties.
JS Comments ;
sounds coming out of the club that the decision was amicable are 'absolute bull' - Wasn't the decision as stated on the club website 'by mutual consent'?
'I was under the impression that I was in with a chance of becoming the next Widnes SuperLeague coach and so this decision is a massive disappointment to me' - Who gave him that impression, the owner?
'I still wanted to stay at the club but there was no negotiation' - Did the club really want him to stay?
'The club told me they could no longer afford to pay me full time wages - but I've got a family to look after'
PC Comments
'We've been considering changes since day one as it obviously wasn't working and so we've brought in Mick Cassidy and he will add alot' - Does this mean it wasn't working againts Toulouse when we won 70 - 0?
AB Comments
'The reduced hours role was offered to John who wrote to the club stating that he formally rejected the offer' - Surely if he has a contract and has been told that he is the next Head Coach, then to be told there is only a part time deal available, he has every right to be ed off and reject the 'offer'?
Something just doesn't sound right.
For my money, Cullen has seen JS as a threat from day one, and had plans to get rid. The club seem to have been bluffed, and done a complete reversal on what STEVE O'CONNOR said in match notes about 'John Stankevitch having a long term future at the club'.
I don't mind admitting that I know JS, and I'm gutted for the lad. Think he has been well and truly on!

| Hopefulyl he won't have bad blood in the long term. He could yet be our coach in the future. It was obvious we needed a conditioner though. Perhaps it was a matter of fitting three into two.
It's a shame he's been treated this way, though.

| I feel sorry for john. He's Widnes through and through. It does look like PC didn't rate him and didn't want him around. I think it was the hope that JS would one day become the coach and learn his trade under PC, but I don't think it could've ever been regarded as a cast iron promise. I think it was just an aim.
John has done a lot of good work at the club and I wish him and his family all the best, and hope he gets back in the game somewhere soon.

| That's usually the tactic for getting shut of anyone in any job. Tell them their job no longer exists but offer them something else you know they won't take. Therefore they left of their own accord and have no comeback. Bit unfair really.

| I've put together a number of posts now about very real concerns I have at the moment but have never got round to pushing the submit button..
SOC did mention that JS was remaining at the club to learn from the new coach and to one day hopefully be installed as the club's SL coach.
I don't remember the press release about Stankevitch stating that the split was by mutual consent.
I think Richard might have hit the nail squarely on the head regarding the conditioning plus I'm not really sure what extra an assistant manager can offer a club which is now mostly being run on a part-time basis but with a full time coach and a part time conditioner. PC probably now has more than enough capacity to cope with the help of a part-time assistant.
FWIW and I hope John does realise that the fans are well behind him and that ideally we all would have liked him to continue in his post and become what we all hoped for him. I haven't heard one dissenting voice on this with the obvious exception of one forum poster.

No job is forever and i wish stanky luck. Their is no sentiment in any sport and it shows at many football teams who sack if job not done.Ste mac was a nice guy but the team not training together is a big joke.

| Obviously I wish John all the best in the future, but all I want is what is best for the club. Lots of people seem to be of the opinion that they wanted John to stay, but I don't think anyone can definitively say that they know 100% we'll be worse off with Stanky moving on.
For a team in this division, you can't really get any more experienced or more high profile than Cullen and Wilkinson. Could be a good move or could be a bad move, just have to put our faith in the club and see what happens.

| Maybe PC has made a few excuses regarding the team not training together !!
Didnt he say after the Toulouse game that the previous coaching staff Steve Mac and JS deserve enormous credit for the work done before he arrived. The team, as i understood it, did train regularly. The new excuse of players not training is bull. Maybe TOC is also responsible for the problems. Who knows ??

| I agree with what you are saying Ray. What gets me, is the fact that the excuses are coming from all angles about why the players aren't performing. Nothing was mentioned whatsoever early on in PC Widnes coaching life, but now the pressure has started to build and his record is getting worse, everything is a BIG problem.
Too may bluffers!

| I dont pretend to know the true facts, however I do know a few players at the club and some of the backroom staff. The players arn't all full time but they did train under the previous staff. The pre season was excellent, good performances against St.Helens (reserves I know), and 40 put on Whitehaven. JS had a great result against Toulouse. What has changed since then.
Pie face you are spot on. Too many bluffers!
Im not saying things where all well at the club before PC came in however it has gone 20 times worse. The players in the squad are good enough to be at the top of the league, they cant stand Cullen and have lost respect for TOC. It may have been a case of "be careful what you wish for" !!

| I like it Ray, at last somebody who is on my wavelength.
I happen to know Ste Mc pretty well, and he is a great coach. One thing that I can definately say about him is that the players respected him and wanted to play for him.
Always reminds me on David Brent from the office.

What about;
We never heard MR NICEGUY come out with half the excuses in his 3+ years at the club as we have done from PC in the last few weeks.
Things must have been really bad for us to achieve the finals we have in the past few years.
Yes, we lost the league finals in one off games, but at least we got there. It doesn't even look like we'll achieve the play offs in current form.
Oh, al,ost forgot. Mr Niceguy also won our last trophy.

I know for a fact that not all of the first team trained together.
I know this as i went to the club to get info about becoming a agent for the Dream Ticket and the team were there getting ready to go for training and there was only 15 players there.

I've got nothing to hide and will happily voice my opinion.
