I've said many a time, Ah Van is a world class finisher.

But his defence is championship standard.

I guess thats why he is with us and not a top 4 club. If we are able to continue with the Phelps/Ah Van partnership then we should be able to compensate for his defensive weaknesses whilst benefitting from his attacking skills!

The whole Widnes defence is championship standard at times. If we sort out the defensive frailties there is absolutely no reason why we can't finish in the top 8 next season. You could argue if we had shown more composure throughout the last 6 to 8 games we would be easily have been in the 8 this year.

I don't think Ah Van is poor in defence. He was as a centre for the Bulls, but on the wing he is fine. Owens and Flynn on the other hand...

Some Bradford fans said Ah Van was the worst player to have ever played for them. Defensively he has his frailties but try scoring wise he is up there with the best in the league IMO.

And he can work a bit more on his defence. Try scoring and going forward to the line is something you have or you don't have.

But it's made for quite a lot of ruddy entertaining games this season. These lads'll be fancying repaying the Loiners the compliment on Sunday - who'd miss it?

Wonder when we last went unbeaten by Bradford in a season? It said on the SuperLeague show that was our first win at Odsal since 1990 - I recall we seemed to drop the ball all day on that occasion, but still came away with a narrow win.

Not good for the nerves though lol. I think we have the 4th best attack in the league and the 4th worse defence.

I take it back. His tackling has been poor at times but under the ball he is good.

Yesterday, Marsh and Phelps played on the opposite sides to where they normally are, Marsh partnered Ah Van on our left with Phelps and Owens on the right, seemed to pay dividends.

In my opinion Marsh is a better strike centre than Phelps so it makes sense to play him on our stronger attacking side.

Hadnt realised that. Marsh is easily our best strike centre but he does suffer a bit from "white line" fever and doesnt always give the ball to his winger when he should. He is always a threat though as is PAV. Phelps and Owens can do ok especially if Brown or Hanbury get involved as the home game against Salford showed.

And to think some fools on the trust forum would have Flynn in the team over PAV.
