| Nicked from the wire board but i dont give a damn.
Name your top 3 in each.
Best
1. Winning promotion to super league under Neil Kelly beating Oldham in the final.
2. Beating Leeds away in Super League on that barmy evening, they battered us the last 10 minutes but still couldnt cross the line.
3. Beating Warrington at Wilderspool in the first season, a packed house of around 9,500 (3,000) from Widnes all singing our hearts out.
Worst
1. Getting a hammering from Wire at home confirming our relegation.
2. Losing out on the franchise
3. Getting a beating of Leigh with them having 12 men

| Sorry gents, missed one off.
Hull away end of 2004, staying up, Regular score updates from the Jungle. Even though we lost our game, probably the most ecstatic I've ever been at a Widnes game. Quality. Great step from Whittaker in second half to score out wide.
Me and my mate trying to get some fitty's number on the way back on the bus too, both failed IIRC

| Vikingman, now you've mentioned yours, I can't think of any better or worse ones. I'm too busy thinking about those shared fan experiences and how memorable they were. I'll just list some others.
One thing personally that was gutting was travelling all the way to Leeds and watching us get tonked. Thanks to my brother's driving we missed the first and only try widnes scored - we did however manage to see Leeds score over 60, every bitter point.
Getting promoted was brilliant obviously but even better than the final was the comeback against Leigh. Beating them and seeing Terzis' face was awesome, and we pretty much knew we'd crack on from there. No disrespect to our opponents in the final but Leigh were the biggest stumbling block and we were unstoppable after that.
Toulouse was one of the most shameful losses in a terrible season. The commitment was absolutely shameful. The fans had shown it, the players couldn't be bothered. Watching Adam Hughes' defence on that day was like watching a leopard try to bring down a tortoise by blowing briskly in it's general direction. Puke inducing performance on national television.
Watching Wigan have to cheat to beat us in the CC is actually a happy memory. We played very well that day, better even than the pies. We also knocked out Castleford in that comp with a league between us. That is our's no matter where we are. As soon as we're back to our rightful place people better watch out in the cup because we're coming for it.
Another great memory, last years NRC. That was important, and we needed something to give the fans some belief. It was achieved out of nowhere. I can honestly say I've not been that much happier following widnes as that day. I'm older and I can appreciate it more.

I thought we couldn't mention that day again? lol
Few more...
Beating Bulls first home game of 2005 when Craige did back flips!
Losing by one point to Cas in 04... yes we stayed up but that game was heart renching!
When stayed up against Hull FC we were 2 down and they kicked and hooter went so Tim Holmes just threw it into touch and started cheering... Classic!
When Wire beat us by 1 at home (year went down?) Briers missed one DG then nailed the next and a late kick for Viane was just won by now our very own Deano Gazza!
Tonked by Quins after nice trip down there!
Beating Wigan at home when we missed about 3 drop goals yet still won

Not far off there Vikingman. I was in Benidorm on holiday for the Widnes v Leigh game and we caught the first half on a internet update on the very old Gary Austin website in the days of prehistoric WAP. We couldn't 'watch' the 2nd half as we were all so nervous. The scenes can be only described as legendary when the Lift Door pinged and 'The Nudge' walked out the lift on the 8th Floor of the L'evantalux and starting singing! Class! Can't argue with those other two either, particuarly the Leeds game. It was legendary.
I was there at Hunslet, can't quite remember whether that was in the days of Colin Whitfield or not but we lost and we never had an opportunity to stake a claim to go up. With hindsight it might have been a good thing.
Good thread son.

| That away Leigh game stood in the pouring rain, terrible game, we lost, and more importantly the game was nothing more than thuggery. Smithy got his arms pinned back by two of their players whilst another punched him repeatedly square in the face. Still one of the most cowardly things I've ever seen on a rugby league pitch. I recall the leythers bigging up how Smith was owed a beating before the match and the players obviously set out beforehand to give him one.

Wasn't it the Bibey's and James Taylor, Chris? Seems to ring a bell.
Another one was hammering Leigh at their place on a Good Friday a few years back.

Think it was actually Rowley, to be honest.

My favourite Boxing Day memory misses out by less than a week - Micky Higham scoring a 60 yarder within 2 minutes of his debut in the 1999/2000 season against your lot at HP - could tell from that moment the lad had summat about him. Think that was the day there were flares in the crowds etc, absolutely mental.

Beating warrington away (the first team to do so at the halliwell) with royale with an excellet display
Beating Bradford at home in the 2nd round of super league, (Craigie with his backflips)
And Hull away, to secure our place in super league with cas going down
Worst
Franchise day
Warrington relegating us
And generally the last year of super league were most teams used to put 50 on us

| The opening night in Super League versus Saints would also be up there, that night was magic even though we just got beat (if only scarts would have held that interception)

Over 50 years of pain, pleasure, frustration, joy, heartache and ecstasy that supporting Leigh has given me but I would not swop it.: |

Give it a rest, I don't mind you bringing this incident up ,but why go into graphic detail every time.I can guarantee you not one Leigh fan supported what Rowley did.
Anyone who knows anything about rugby knows that any deliberate premeditated violence against another player always happens in the first quarter, or seconds if your names Morley.
I could give loads of incidences of "thuggery" from Widnes players over the years,The Hulmes were the worst offenders at coming in 3rd man in a tackle with both knees or fists.
All the Leigh lads got big bans and I'm sure over the years Smith has more than made up for the punches he got in that match, even you must admit he is far from a saint.

We're talking about memories. I.e. things in the past. That is one of the worst memories of rugby league. By all means bring in some thuggery by the hulme brothers, on another thread on topic on your own board. I'll get you started. Paul Hulme was once sent off for gouging.
