Is anybody else a little surprised that non of the following have yet found clubs? Fletcher especially is a cracking player and one i would have kept. Doddy seems to be rumoured with Oldham and Swinton but nothing yet. Rumours Ostick is quitting the game and i dont have a clue about Patto but havent seen anything.

Richard Fletcher
Gavin Dodd
Michael Ostick
Lee Paterson

Saw something with Fletcher and Sheffield... they didn't name him but quoted age, posistion, experience and said suprised not snapped up etc.

All those could easy get a starting spot in this league (under top 4 or so) which is what suprises me!

Disappointing situation regarding Ostick - looks like a case of tit for tat. We apparantly treated him very bad at the end of 2008, then he came through in 2009 but people then accused him of either being greedy or possibly even trying to get one up on the club after he was treated badly the previous season.

Whatever the situation, I am a bit sorry to see him go and in decent pack, I think he could have been a decent player. IMO it was a bit of a hit and miss season for him this year, had some good games but, had some poor games like the shocker he had in the play-offs against Whitehaven. With a stronger pack next year, IMO he would have fitted in quite well.

I agree, but preferably in the back row.

Fletcher is good but injury prone.Really i think our squad has improved from last year.Only moz and fletch i have in my team now but i think the replacements such as pickersgill, haggerty, allen are good replacements.Gerrard suppose to be good and we also have better backs than last year.Additions been gardner, ford, and dean. Not bad only losing gav dodd. icon_wink.gif

Personally (and i know i'm biased but..) I think your squad is looking much weaker. Duffy was also known as one of your main threats and caused many problems for us, getting rid of him and bringing in someone like Coyle just doesn't seem like a good move IMO. Same with Morrison and Flecture.

Duffy/Morrison/Fletcher all spent large amounts of last season on the side lines and are injury prone.

Haggerty/Pickersgill/Allen/Gerrard/Coyle more than make up for them departures. Ford is more dangerous than Dodd and is much safer under the high ball. Gardner adds competition to an already impressive wing combination and Chris Dean played in quite a few Saints games at centre last year and is a good player.

Please feel free to judge our squad, i cant wait for the action to start.

Over and out.

Duffy was always on the floor unconscious and he never set the world alight.I think i saw him play much more than you.He had one great game and that was in the northern rail final.

The problem is, as PC stated the other day, I think we used something like 33 players this year. You can look at our 1st choice 17 from this year all you want, but just how many times did we get to play the same 17? Our team looked strong at the start of the year but signings like Wildbore, Sam Thompson just didn't work and players like Duffy, Morrison or Fletcher were often out injured.

IMO we will be far stronger, next year. Morrison played in the front row for us for a couple of years, but I don't think he would have got in the front row next year. Duffy, can be brilliant, but he was nowhere near fit enough, and seemed to finish almost every game with an injury of somesort - all in all he probably only had a few decent games for us last year.

As PC has said, the big thing for the Widnes players next year is to be more efficient in everything that they do - he needs more from each player. No whinging about this, that and the other, just low maintenance players who want to play for the club and will just get on with things. We may not have the flash players like Gene, Penkywicz or Black, but what we do have is good mix of experienced ex-SL players and younger players who have had a good grounding at clubs like Wigan and Saints.

I can't see us finishing outside the top 3 and depending on how some of the younger players go, we might have enough to go all the way.

Well thats your opinion and your entitled to it, im quite happy to take a backward seat this year and let everyone else talk themselves up. Normally all the pressure is on Widnes. We are building to Super League 2012.

Good Luck.
