Even before the season kicked off the consensus on here was we needed another prop , then we signed kite knowing he wasn't fit but a cracking future prospect , so obviously another short-term prop was going to be necessary as well , sort it out Betts.

I don't get the 'sort it out Betts' attitude, should we just go to the world class prop tree and pick someone off it?

We know we made a big play for Griffin and on that front I'd be surprised if not Andy Lynch. Both of those would be ideal for any side but unfortunately there aren't many players like that around. I believe we also moved for Peacock who short term would have added a hell of a lot. People quickly forget we only had ONE season of SL signings to date. You can't get everyone you want! And in the Griffin case also shows you can't simply 'offer more money' as everyone says.

In Davies, Mullally and even Kite we have 3 relatively young but exciting props with potentially big futures ahead. Pickers and Cross are your kind of work horse props that may not be top quality but will often take the ball up and work hard. I've always rated Alex Gerrard and was great to see him get his first SL game and do well on Thursday.

This is one of many areas where it will take time. But in recruitment now we can focus on certain areas / individuals even rather than trying to form a whole new squad at once.

I would sooner we had Cross in our squad than not have him.Michael Maguire was satisfied with his contribution, brief as it was, with Wigan last year.

As much as i'd love a really top class prop i know its too soon and like you say we have some talented young forwards who could well step up but i just think we need someone now to fill in , like already been said even a good championship prop , another joe grima from someone like swinton would be good icon_wink.gif
My sort it out attitude is just to convey that if Denis & co are'nt looking for one imo they should be.
