Visit //www.geofflee.net for details of my novels 'One Winter', 'One Spring', 'One Summer' 'One Autumn' 'Two Seasons'. and "Three Good Years" All six feature Rugby League against a humourous Lancashire/Yorkshire background and are inspired by the old saying about work: "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller.":
If you are travelling to the Galpharm from Widnes on Sunday, you may well get held up en route. Well you will if you decide to visit the Rugby League Heritage Centre first. It is situated in the basement of the famous George Hotel, which is very close to the Huddersfield railway station and about a twenty minute walk to the ground.
The Centre has a collection of rare memorabilia, ancient caps, jerseys and boots, valuable medals and trophies, old programmes and newspaper cuttings and digitised century old photographs.
This unique visitor attraction charts the progress of the game since 1895 in a user friendly format that will appeal to supporters of all ages.
There is also a collection of around 200 framed prints dotted around the hotel's public area and particularly alongside the steps leading down to the centre.
Admission is free and any Widnes fans visiting will be made more than welcome. There is also a small shop in the centre where some of the most recently published Rugby League books, novels, magazines, DVDs, along with RLHC tee shirts and pens can be bought.
Enjoy your visit.
the only real hold up's i can think of are the endless sections on roadworks on the m62 starting at warrington and reappear in sporadic sections all along.........................and as usual you'll see few if anybody working on them
