I think he made far fewer mistakes at full back last season. In fact I can only recall one game where he spilt the ball from a good kick return and even in the replays it looked like he had it reefed.

There's been more than a few gaffes from our own star full back too - Miles Greenwood. There's not many FB's in the game who are really comfortable under a high ball - Wellens springs to mind. England's under-study Sykes had a nightmare last night. The question has to be - does Dodd cause headaches for the opposition defence? Greenwood constantly breaks his line - he's a great attacker. Westbanker claims Doody's a crab (not unlike our own - Worrincy). Is this correct? Does he break defences enough?

For some reason people only remember Dodd's side ways returns which seemed to be a tactic employed by McCormack. Under Paul Cullen his running has been far more direct as has his back up play and creativity.

People like Jiffylube seem to conveniently forget that Dodd currently holds the most points in a game record and moments like the 70 yard solo try he scored last season where bounced off several defenders to score.

Maybe. There wouldn't be a great deal of objection of Gavin Dodd had re-signed with Widnes, but if we've brought Ford in to play full back, and have Gaskill and Flynn to play wing - plus I believe Kevin Penny will be back on a dual contract to cover Gaskill's ban, he may have struggled to get in.

I should hope that he'll get a great reception if he plays at the Stobart next season for someone else.

Little rich if you want an honest view Dodd holds the most points in a game and it was against Doncaster when we beat the 90 odd points to 4 and we had Nanyn Wilkes James Blanch and all he had to do was dott the i's in front of goal..

His 70 yarder was spectacular to say the least, but i would not have him back because he is a liability and produces too many mistakes, i dont care who wants a pop and insult me but this is my honest opinion and im entitled to it!.

Id rather have worrincy far more powerful quicker and a better line breaker but id say both the same under the ball.
