Quote: Neville Bartos "A club going into administration does not mean all players suddenly become free agents. They'll still be contracted to the Bulls, and the administrator will either try to sell them or decide to keep them if they can aford to do so. I'd assume as one of their most sought after assets that Whitehead would indeed be sold.'"
Correct, we signed obst from wakey whilst they were in administration

Exactly. Take Rangers Football Club as an example too. Whilst in administration, a couple of their players asked for voluntary redundancy with no pay off, and quite alot (if not all) accepted large pay cuts. They did not become 'free agents'.

Is that the best you can do, technically of course if there are no bidders he will be a free agent, or if a buyer does not come in for the Bulls he may well go for a few quid..Basically you believe signing a player for 5 yrs then a week later declaring your club is £1m in debt is not idiotic..The greedy board should have offloaded him and a few others to cut the wage bill then they may not be in this mess! but hey ho as long as they make a few quid on a couple of players to pay off their debts

See my reply to Marfa Manu. I'm not saying it wasn't bad management, I'm saying there's a major double standard in talking like everyone associated with the club deserves what is happening and simultaneously painting them as villains for exploiting the situation with us rather than acknowledge that it was largely of our own making too, particularly whilst seeming to take excessive pleasure in urging us to do the same to them.

AFAIK the players only remain contracted as long as the administrator can fulfil their contract terms - such as payment of wages for example. In this case it's been made quite clear that unless the Bulls find £500k in the next two weeks there will be no cash to pay anyone - and at that point the players will become free agents.

This has actually been discussed on the Bulls board. It looks as if it was an attempt to artificially inflate the value of the clubs assets in order to try and leverage better terms if/when they enter into negotiations with creditors. I don't think this will work BTW but there was at least theoretically some method to the madness.

It's been mentioned before, but roughly how many players do you think they'd have had to offload to make up a £1M shortfall? And how exactly does it make their board greedy not to have done so?
The mismanagement at the club appears to go way beyond decisions about the make up of the squad.

You're talking absolute nonsense, you don't understand what administration is and your obsession with Whitehead's 5-year deal is embarrassing. If I don't know anything about a subject, I don't try and talk about it - I suggest you do the same.

| Quote: TrevLovesJanice "Bradford went bust in the 1960s and had to restart again, so it's happened to them before.
Their history isn't all that glorious apart from the mid-90s onwards. They had a good spell in the late 1940s and the late 70s, but other than that have not been a consistently top club (although they have spent a lot of years in the top division).
The history of sport in Bradford has been a roller-coaster for their 2 soccer teams, Northern/Bulls, their rugby union team, speedway etc
It's just a city with no money that struggles to support professional sport.'"
If I remember correctly before the Bulls era started their official company name was Bradford Northern (196icon_cool.gif Ltd .

They could not meet the £1m with the players, however if they had offloaded a few decent ones it would have got a few quid in transfers and cut the bill, then like I said they could have been honest with the fans and planned a recovery period, fundraising etc, yes they may have being woodenspoons for a couple of seasons but they may have secured their club..They had to sell the stadium as they could not pay the bill owed to the RLF so credit was never going to look good for them, the fact they have waited until 2 weeks before demonstrates either greediness or just a bunch of incompetent idiots.

Not as embarrassing as it is for Bradford Bulls right now because if they do not get £1m together soon they cannot even pay his wage let alone have him for 5 seasons, he will be worth diddly squit to them !!

True, but if they can pull off the £500k it gives them a chance of finding investment/a buyer. I personally think they need to avoid administration or starting again if at all possible, as with the franchising system now I couldn't see a way back into SL with no ground, a weak squad, and low attendances.

Not really. To follow your analogy the difference is those who would kill to survive if they had to, and those feel a sense of pleasure in the act.

Add Bateman and maybe Kopczak to your list.

Of course she doesn't, she's too busy venting spleen to actually [ithink[/i about things.
