I'm sure I have seen him make some decent tackles albeit on TV.'"
It's a myth about him been a poor defender the thing is if you look at his stats he may have a lot of missed tackles but he probably tackles more than any other half in the league I've always thought him a very strong tackler and probably does to much defending

Exactly what I thought.
Strong tackler. Especially head on.

We are in the right league to have a go, & north point is the best centre hull has ever made.

| Heard the deal was completed this morning.
Todd Carney also rumoured to be going back to the NRL.
Looks like there isn't much out there for Super League teams, so definately worth taking a punt on Kelly.

so who is leaving then, I hope it's Pritchard as he has a deal already wheras Michaels doesn't. You could say that it very much was a short term interim deal anyway as he only left for salary cap reasons, it looks like it works both ways and in doing so allows us to sign a player in a position that we need.

Pritchard is going.
Not sure what's happening with Michaels though. Gone very quiet.
Wonder if the club were seeing if they could get someone else in who they deem to be a better player?

| I believe someone else said earlier in the thread that Kelly is the type of player that we want but Kelly himself is not the player we need. This certainly sums up my general initial feelings towards this increasingly likely signing.
I think he's a great player on his day who can be a real handful for the opposition and exciting to watch. However, I don't think he's shown that consistently enough. Then there's the disciplinary stuff. My instinct is to stay clear of this guy.
But it doesn't look like that will be the case. And thinking about it in more detail I have to concur with what others have said in that there doesn't seem to be a lot of options out there so maybe Kelly is worth the risk. And as others have said hopefully the contract will be weighed in FC's favour to account for the risk.
It's also worth remembering that since taking charge that Radders and MT have a good track record with their signings so I would urge anyone who has doubts like myself to keep an open mind on this one. Hopefully this time next year we will be praising Kelly's part in another successful season and we'll be praising LR and Motu on yet another astute signing.

I think we have done well to take advantage of Rovers relegation and Kelly's behaviour to strike a deal very much in our favour, I think he will be better at Hull with better players, worst case scenario we have Carlos etc to step in.
Not too much quality recruitment by SL sides so far, so I think we have done pretty well and if we get Kelly and the other signings addressed some weaknesses and will go with a stronger squad next season than the one just gone.

| Likewise I don't have many doubts about Kelly's capability playing wise, but I am most worried about his off the field behaviour which up until now has been consistently appalling with little evidence of his willingness to change. People can change, even Willie Mason finally approached acceptable conduct but there's no denying there is a huge risk element. Still the club is on a good roll recruitment wise recently so I have to trust that they know what they are doing here.
