Yeah, the Saints poster on here the other day was saying the same.
But, as he said, can car share with Longy and Gleeson. I can see Longy getting a similar deal to Deacon at Wigan.

Pay as you don't play?
As for the leigh player, no point in signing a youngster who doesn't want to move across

Was thinking more of a player/coach.
It's up to the club to persuade him to move over. We don't know his personal circumstances.

If he can't be ar$ed trvaelling 1 1/2 hours each way then I don't want him, in fact, it's time we went back to players living within 30 minutes of training, we're being far too soft IMHO.

[quote="The Reason":3e09qe5x]Hi Andy
The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.
Regards,
Matthew[/quote:3e09qe5x]:23521.jpg |

| I don't know players would want to spend 3-4 hours a day travelling anyway.

My point exactly. A bloke at the end of his career I can understand not wanting to uproot his family, but a youngster with an opportunity to play at a big club should be moving closer. If he doesn't want to then is the move really for him? Plus with training 3 or 4 times a week he could be doing an extra 15 or so hours a week sat in a car

Sorry I don't see the problem, if he wants to be a pro player and has ambition then 12 hours a week commuting isn't hard. I commute to work now and it takes me 1 hour each way 5 days a week for about £12k a year. Surely anyone with ambition would be willing to car share and commute with 2 very experienced internationals and use to time to cherry pick knowldge.
If not, then there is no point even looking at him we should keep Obst and Long (p/t).

Indeed, some people are far too quick to make excuses for what are meant to be professional people, I earn a good wage, but to earn it I have to "inconvenience" myself to varying degrees via travel, odd hours etc.

I choose to earn probably 10k less than I could to stay local. You seem to be judging ambition by monetary means. If his ambition is to be a SL player maybe he feels he can achieve it closer to home.

With Wigan, St's or Wire? or is settling for Widnes showing ambition in your eyes.

Is settling for FC and a 2hr commute ambition in your eyes? Maybe his ambition is higher than FC?

quite right mate but also,
I know of many players past & present at Toulouse and the LER who have been offered seemingly better offers from english clubs (including at least one SL club) but when the sums have been done it actually works out a worse deal when things like a car & accommodation etc are taken into account. So they are better of staying in france.
That's not to mention the lads who choose to remain in france, worse off because of the quality of life etc.
sometimes 'ambition' and what may be is disregarded for the more practical things in life...
