The result wasn't important today. We were rocked by losing lineham and the resulting reshuffle of the back line cost us a few tries.

Plenty of positives....miller and shaul looked sharp. Bowden looked fantastic at times and Rankin reminded us of a young Horne. Fantastic step and pace with a wonderful try at the end.

Fear not guys, plenty to be positive about. Looking forward to next week!

Disappointing but no need for doom and gloom because we lost a friendly. We can only hope for a positive response next Sunday from a team which will be closer to our starting line up. If they serve up a similar performance that will be cause for concern.

Just back from The game, dissapointed with our defence and failiure to stop the offload. Looked like it was the bulls strongest line up possible but it shouldnt be an excuse as it was their first gamd too.

Lineham had a perfectly good try ruled out by poor postioning by the linesman who was brhind thecplay do how he ruled it forward god knows, to add insult to injury lineham got kneed in the ribs that the officials completley ignored.

The ambulance for a poor guy sat 3 fows in front of us who didnt look too well and had to be taken out

Positives were rankin, shaul, fash, bowden and stark on the wing

Pretty mixed bag.

Negatives - disjointed defence and failure to stop the offload in any way shape or form. Miller generally anonymous. Wrong options in the red zone.

Positives - Ellis, Paea, Feka, Rankin. Think Rankin and Horne look our best halves. Quite a few players still to play - Houghton, Azza, Yeaman, Watts, Biggs, Talanoa, McDonnell, Tuson.

Hope the spectator taken off in an ambulance was OK.

Quote: TrevLovesJanice "Just got back from Odsal (I live in west yorks)

Pretty poor showing in my opinion.

I was especially worried about the appalling tackling. Bulls were offloading at will and breaking lots of 1 on 1 tackles.

Also we really struggled to put any convincing moves on. It was only at the end when bulls made some changes that a few examples of individual skill created some tries.

Yes it is "early days" and no these games don't count, and I would still back us to finish above bratfud, but all I can say is that it was a VERY disappointing showing from a team that has been "training the house down".'"

Didn't go, listened and got feed back from 5/6 different people.
What I've put together is, Bradford, in first half played a fairly solid team (which was near full strength) whereas hull chopped and changed. Which is coincidentally when Bradford scored most of their points (directly after our interchanges and positional changes) the back line was non existent for 90 % of game
Crooks on wing, Thomson centre stark won't play 1St team this year only arundel who played in his true position
When our more experienced players where on we controlled the game better.
Sounded like we nearly scored a few great tries, which finishing wise will need tidying up. We've been held up or disallowed 8 times i think?
9 1St team players still out today.
Think yours what I know of the game sounds unduly negative to me, but don't miss read mine as unduly positive
it's a friendly nothing more. Solid hit out and mostly unscathed!

what's new!? we've been bad at that since 2007!

bad that the defence looked bad too though, defence has been the only thing thats been generally good over the last few years! can't say i'm filled with confidence for the new season icon_sad.gif

You make a good point. Many of your players are going into the Rovers game with 2 games under their belt and are now fully match ready. The Robins are yet to make a tackle in anger. I have a feeling we are walking straight into an ambush.

Quote: Diablo1967 "Yeah, but did he go down the tunnel or sit on the bench?'"

He went straight down the tunnel, was holding his hip and limping for a good 5 minutes before he went off.

James Cunningham also went off in 2nd half, physio signalled immediately that he coundn't continue, but he then got up and walked off with only a slight limp.

Dissapointing run out, Bradford were better than us for 60 minutes of the 80, there off load and kicking game looked reallly sound, our kicking game was poor apart from last 10 minutes.

On the positive side saw nothing wrong with the Lineham try and we were held up over the line on at least 3 occassions. Peae looked good but only did a couple of short stints as did Feka, Rankin improved the longer he stayed on the pitch, Shaul had a decent game. It was only a friendly (or Trial game as we seem to be calling them now) so not worried yet!

Don't know if been mentioned but St John's had to attend to a guy near the front (Hull fan I think) who appeared to have been taken ill and left in an ambulance, hope they are ok.

I thought Miller was poor at Donny, let Tyson-Wilson do most of the work imo. I can see him not making the 17 for Catalan tbh.

You have the "Best pack in Super League" according to Phil Lowe
"One week's preparation in Tenerife is worth 6 weeks in the UK" according to Craig Sandercock
"It's Rovers' year" according to Mike Smith.
Massive advantages to Rovers, those, hardly offset by 30 minutes each for a few first teamers at Hull.

Biggest choice for Radders to make. Question is whether Rankin and Horne are too similar, I guess. But on the very limited showing so far, both would be ahead of Miller. Hopefully when Houghton and Azza play we'll get on the front foot better.

Those quotes may or (more probably) may not be proved correct. What cant be disputed is that there is no substitute for match sharpness. You arnt as daft as you make out and fully realise this.
