| Its alright saying that the players need our support but we've being giving that for the last 16weeks which has only seen us beat cas, salford and celtic. Maybe its about time the fans got a little bit of encouragement, or some 'return' for their investment, from the club.

| Quote Mild mannered Janitor="Mild mannered Janitor"But according to your earlier post, the coach isn't allowed to voice his opinion???
Yep, that seems fair
'"
It may not seem fair, but it's the way it has to be. Regardless of how Agar may feel he shouldn't be publicly slating the fans. It has never done anything but harm and it never will.
There were any number of other ways he could have made a point about support and confidence without slagging off the people who, ATEOTD, pay his wages and the wages of his under-performing squad.
The fact that he couldn't or chose not to do so says volumes about his professionalism and ability to handle pressure.

| I think some people on here are going abit OTT regarding the fans reaction to celtic's try. The crowd were not 'cheering' the try, they were applauding it, as a previous poster mentioned. I don't think anyone wanted celtic to win the game (bar a few) therefore why would they cheer one of their try's which subsequently put them in the lead? I was one of the many that appluaded their try, I didnt want them to win, but I was just reluctant to see some decent rugby being played. I was happy to see at least 1 team turn up and play with abit of enthusiasm, they were willing to throw the ball about and try things, our team clearly werent. Good on em I say.

| Quote Raggytash="Raggytash"I think this problem has been exacerbated by Agar and the board. For the last 3 seasons they've been telling us what a great squad we have, and how we'll be in a position to win things. They have built up false expectations by over hyping average signings and pretending our existing players are competitive. Most fans have swallowed all this excrement for a long time but as they say, you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
In regards to booing our own team, I didn't myself because I had absolutely no expectations going into the game. I see ourselves as the 3rd worst team in the league and I think we play like the 3rd worst side. To expect anymore of this squad and coaching set up would be daft. I don't have a problem with others booing the team and think Agar can only condemn them when he starts paying an admission fee himself.
On the whole, I don't think there was a real lack of effort from the players, just a lack of ideas. I was very impressed with Sam Moa and Calderwood, and I liked Moa's interaction with the crowd at the end. However, even with the new signings next year, we won't have a great deal of improvement in us under this current regime.'"
Agree on this point, also throw in there Whiting and Tansey and all is not lost we do have some showing heart.

Exactly right. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Celtic have had little success win wise this season, but continue to try and play attractive rugby. My applause was for that reason. I honestly think it was a spontaneous gesture by the fans, and I would guess we are better thought of right now by them (Celtic), than we are by our own coach!

| It's ok Agar trying to apportion some of blame on us fans, but it seemed that everytime we sent the ball wide we scored, so is it Agar's tactic's of playing the game down the middle that it strangling our natural game and not using the pace we have on the outside's.
If it is then only Agar himself is to blame.

| Quote handbrake="handbrake"You can say what you like, but cheering the opposition and mocking your own team is beyond the pale, IMO.
So what if we think SOME of the players aren't giving there all, do we address that by taking ourselves down to their level?

I think it's an ideal way to make a protest, myself. Much better than boycotting the game.

| Quote Jake the Peg="Jake the Peg"Absolutely right. the coach should keep his opinions on the fans to himself. He's paid to coach the team not to try and deflect blame from himself by blaming anyone who he can think of. Last week the players, this week the fans. Who will it be next week?'"
Hypocrit
Apart from twisting what was said (booing doesn't help out when the team are full of nerves does not equate to blaming them for a poor performances).
If the coach is there solely to coach the team perhaps there should be no communication between club officials and the fans at all?
I suppose its been ok for players and coaches past and present to heap praise on the fans for our years of loyal support??? Or should they keep those opinions to themselves as well?
There is no wonder Hull FC has struggles to attract a top class coach when fans like you are evident. Can you imagine the conversation between Wayne Bennett and any former Hull player
"I have been offered the Hull job, any advice"
"Yes, you will have to win every game because the fans will tear you to bits unless you deliver all trophies on offer, and by the way thats in your normal day to day life, not just on match day"
