| Quote: Barnabus "Yep. There are certainly no signs that his career is winding down - he does a lot more minutes now than he used to in his first 2/3 seasons at Hull.
Saints signing Manu is (imo) the 2nd best Superleague signing for 2013 at the moment (after Ellis). They've also signed a pile of cack in Turner as a counterbalance.'"
agree, its only a matter of time till he picks up his first major injury for a while and lets be fair whilst he may well keep himself very fit he is always growing older and the clock ticking on him, he has also played more game time than ever before which is bound to have taken a toll even if he does not realise it.
as with Turner whilst he had his best game for a while versus Hudds he has certainly been shart for much of this season and one i will not miss

You say that, but you could also mention that when the TEAM plays well and clicks like they did, No matter the personal. they themselves will play well.
Cant wait to finally say bye to turner

| Quote: Chris71 "You've got to laugh eh?
As good as Willie is and has been for us he is no way a better player than Ellis. You do not get voted as player of the season for a team like Wests in the NRL (with the players they have) once unless you are pretty good let alone 3 years on the trot!!
Willie on his day can be a devastating player but he has also at times this season been pretty anonomous in some games.
Still gutted to see the guy leave for Saints as with him and Ellis together could and probably would have been a devastating force but to say he is better than Ellis is simply laughable.'"
Great post mate.
I love Manu he's been outstanding for us but agree that he has had a large amount of quiet games this season.
I don't understand how someone could argue Ellis is a worse player than Manu
I reckon Manu will at least 2 years left in him probably 3

| Amongst all this squabling, lets not forget that Ellis was NEVER meant as a replacement for Manu!
How awesome would it have being to have them both! gutted about that tbh.

I thought the same, I tuned in to see what all the fuss was about
and hardly so him in some of the games.
Now I can sit back a wait for the abuse.

No abuse, but you might like to consider how long it takes to get back to your best after a major injury.

You might well be right. Come next season we all will know one way or the other. You might also by the start of next season said something positive about Hull, on the other hand maybe not.

| Do these Rovers trolls not understand that the NRL is a miles better standard than SL?
Manu is a great SL player, but would look no were near as good in the NRL.
Rovers best player, couldn't even get a get a game in a poor NRL team when he was there.

I'm not at all surprised you're saying this.
And the phrase you're looking for is "washed up".

He had a lengthy injury and only had 6 games to play he was never gonna be at full match fitness in those games.
he got player of the year 3 times in a row for a nrl team
he has to be at the very least a very good player?
look at heremaia he was well of the pace for the 1st few games but he's looking miles better now

| Iam not saying ellis hasn't been a terrific player, but everybody has a sell by date and I do believe on the evidence of the end of the season, ellis looked a shadow of his former self. Manu seems to have improved with age and as somebody posted the ideal situation would be to have them both, but IMO out of the 2 I would prefer manu.Iam aware the standard in the NRL is higher which is even more credit to ellis in the fact he was player of the year in front of quality like marshall, but bad injuries in the latter stage of your career can be the beginning of the end.!
