I have a sneaking suspicion Noble would prefer the Hull job. He's dropped hints before, always speaks well about the club even off camera, and he'd probably be given more time with less pressure from the fans due to the situation he'd be taking over, and the board are less likely than Leeds to be as ruthless and 'do a Wigan' to him . There's also any residual Bradford loyalty to consider, as TBH they will always be 'his' club and he does seem that sort of guy to avoid going to bitter rivals.

If it was a fact he would go, I am with you. I would take a defeat.

Sad, isn't it. It's a small club mentality, that.
Whilst I always like to beat Rovers, a victory against them wouldn't mean that I felt remotely differently about the whole Agar situation.

That's far from the case for me. However with the symbology of the derby match combined with the fact we already lost one this season and our league position I just feel that another defeat will be the tipping point even for our BOD.

| Anyone find this sentence from the OS worrying?
Quote: "Hull now face the long trip back from France for the short turnaround to the Hull derby on Good Friday. '"
It's almost as if they're getting their excuses in early.

| It will be a hollow victory if we beat rovers on friday, agar will then be going on about us turning the corner and challenging the play off positions until we get beat at warrington,i would take the defeat for agar to resign

I think you'd be surprised at how many fans would be in favour of a defeat IF it meant Agar was removed asap.

| Quote: Rock God X "I say that too. I don't know if he's the man to lead us to silverware, but I reckon he'd get us to the position where we could at least challenge the top teams. Give him the rest of this season and the next two and I reckon we could be somewhere near.
It won't happen, of course. By the time the board finally realise what's been staring them in the face for three years, we'll be out of options and promote Webster.'"
Been saying this for six weeks.
There seems to be a culture within our board of being unable to make a decision then tenaciously pursue the solution. FFS, our 3 crucial signings, in the 3 positions we have been screaming about for long enough were made after the season started, Furthermore, they were made in each case due to circumstance, rather than deliberate action by the club.
I said somewhere yesterday that Nobby is an average to good coach who can get good squads up the table pronto. Whether he is good enough to make them into a class above achieving successive silverware is doubtful, as illustrated at Wigan. But he's exactly what we need this year and next.
A month ago he'd have signed. Whether he will now with all the alternatives emerging is dubious. What we are witnessing is another example of the failure of our club to identify a problem - even if it's screaming at them in their faces - and secure the right solution for themselves, whatever it takes, at the expense of all others.
That of course, will be the actions of clubs like Leeds, Bradford and now Wigan (for next season). It will be interesting to see the calibre of the people they identify and make sure they get.
Noble? I think he'll go to Leeds. McDermott will either stay as second in command (as was originally intended under Bluey) or come to us. Thanks, the Heths.

All things considered i would like Noble to be our next coach and i would give Agar the job of DOR as i still think he has something to offer the club but unfortunately not head coach.

Average to good? He won everything in the game with Bradford, took Wigan from bottom of the table to one game off a grand final, and got a new, unprepared Crusaders team into the top 8. I'd have said that was 'very good', at least.

I think it has to be a clean sweep this time. New top man and his own choice of backroom staff.

It seems to be a recurring theme every time we win one match out of 3. Just wish we could have had all our losses to date this season at the beginning then we wouldn't be having this debate and Nobby would be at the helm. Surely...

It's funny, isn't it, how people views change as the situation increases in desperateness. When his name was first mooted at the beginning of the season most derided it and said we should be aiming higher, Nobby was "poor" not what we need. Only a World Class coach would do.
Now he's an all-encompassing genius who we must have at all costs before Leeds get their horns in him.
The truth is probably as usual somewhere in the middle. I'm sure Wigan would say he was average compared to McGuire, Crusaders would say good compared to Dixon, and we'd say very good compared to Agar...
Any way, we need him. Now.

I never said that, and I don't recall too many others saying it either. Of course, if 'most' said it, you'll be able to point to several posts containing those sentiments.

I never said that, and I don't recall too many others saying it either. I said he was a 'very good' coach who could get us to the level where we are able to compete with the top teams. I even expressed some reservation as to whether he was the man to lead us to silverware.
Quote: WormInHand "The truth is probably always somewhere in the middle. '"
You don't say? Like I (and several others) have said all along. That you imagined otherwise doesn't change that.
Quote: WormInHand "I'm sure Wigan would say he was average compared to McGuire, Crusaders would say good compared to Dixon, and we'd say very good compared to Agar...'"
Wigan would say average? I don't think so. He laid the groundwork for what McGuire is achieving now. If you don't believe me, ask McGuire. He lead Crusaders to their first ever top 8 finish and they've dropped right back since he left. I think they might just hold him in high regard, too.

Him, or someone like him, yes.
