That's partly my point !! If we are now comparing our strenghts against Salford's, we really have gone a long way backwards.
Field position against Salford's "big pack" is one thing, coming up against the packs of Bradford, Saints, Warrington, Hudds, Cats etc.. is another thing altogether !!!

Cusack - average workhorse
Dowes - average workhorse
Radford - absolute $hite
King - best days are way way behind him
Thakray - good impact but hit and miss
Lauaki - should be fantastic
Moa - unproven
Maloney - unproven

I'd rate Cusack as higher than average due to the work he does on the floor to get a fast PTB.
Otherwise I'd say you're pretty much spot on.

For me, our front row options are the biggest concern with our squad. I know that we are weak in a couple of other areas but a big quality front row is where every top team starts.

It's a worry. And we have limited options to address it.

A good top quality Aussie prop (Kite) and a good British prop (perhaps someone like Moore) would do for me. Obviously that would mean two props going the other way. Two of King, Dowes, Radford or Thackray would be good business.

| Now we've signed Cusack up and if Radford is going to play prop next season I can only see us signing 1 more prop up, hopefully Maloney.
Starting props - Radford/Dowes/Cusack
Interchange props - Lauaki/King/Maloney
That might not seem like enough front rowers but if we sign any more we will be top heavy in forwards again.

| I just wish we would get rid of most of the utility players we have and have a smaller squad but with more quality and then use some reserves when we need them. Like Saints do, although with the way we pick up injuries that might not be the best idea.

Every team needs utility players but they should be young kids not quota players like Byrne. Next season our utility backs should be Briscoe, Hall, Green and Broughton. Give all these players experience when the backs are injured like Saints do with Wheeler, Lomax, Eastmond, Dean etc.

Another reason only to sign one more prop up. If there was an injury crisis in the front row, we can put him in for a fare few games aswell.

I,m with you on this. The last 3 are unproven/still maturing but the rest could all go for me.They have'nt set the league alight this season and i can not see anything changing next.

| Ty Williams is looking for a contract next year, here or Australia. We've not been linked but I'd be pleased with him. I think prop is a priority and I hope it's true about Kite because Lauaki or Fitz would be wasted by taking them out of the 2nd row.

I'd be amazed if long can operate behind that pack next year.

So you want to sign a winger?
I mentioned him plenty of times before we signed Calderwood, but we clearly don't need a winger. I know he's played centre before not half as good there as he is on the wing.
