If we were still hunting for a new coach, then Grix would probably have clinched the position with yesterday's result. Think there is still a scenario which sees him as head coach next year if, for some reason, the Cartwright deal collapses, which is not an impossibility given the rumours circulating around the Perth position.
There is always a temptation, when a temporary appointment is perceived to have made an impact, to make the temporary into a permanent role, and many sporting clubs have fallen into that trap before (Manchester United, for example!). Being successful short-term is a very different proposition to turning around a club like ours. Appointing Grix on a permanent basis would still represent a gamble which could go either way.
It's decisions like this where Myler truly earns his corn. He has to get this one right or the club will continue to drift along in a downward trajectory.

| Fantastic performance yesterday, didn’t have much hope going into the game however I was more than happy to be proved wrong.
The boys deserved that, the one big takeaway was the response to last weeks slow start, it was chalk and cheese to the derby last week.
Our season may be over but I hope that result gives us the confidence to pick up a few more wins to take a bit of a feel good factor going into 2025.

I wonder if that is now going through Myler's mind? Clearly Cartwright isn't a long-term appointment due to his age, but Grix as understudy for two years before assuming head-coach duties would give us direction and ongoing continuity.
I was fairly ambivalent about Grix when Smith departed, believing he was nothing more than a stop-gap appointment while Myler decided where to next, but he has to be given credit for a clear development in fitness, attitude and commitment over the past couple of months, which culminated in yesterday's win.
It's Myler's call here. Does he feel Grix could be an asset to the club medium-term, and if so, in what capacity under Cartwright. When Smith left the club we were a basket-case. At least now we are a competitive side once more and Grix has to be congratulated for steadying the ship at the very least and instilling a little bit of pride back into the club and, even more importantly, us as long-suffering supporters.

| I think Grix has a big decision because he can cut it as a head coach. Hindsight is wonderful but you sensed after a couple of games he has what it takes. That said we can’t get excited despite a fabulous win. I do think some have been unfairly critical of Grixs selections, handling of Balmforth etcIf we had not appointed Cartwright then Grix should have been kept on. I hope he stays with us but think he may want to be head coach elsewhere. Our big loss!

OUTMaybe, just maybe people are just happy and enjoying the win and performance.
They maybe don't feel the need to vent their frustration or analyise the performance this week unlike some who like to come on here, have cheap digs and boast about how much beer they can drink and what super fans they are
you have to laugh at some of the old faithful on here.
yes we played well with one or two outstanding individual performances but as mentioned Wigan made so many errors, some partly due to our aggression and kick chase yet no one has mentioned just how important was our on field discipline in getting the win.
It makes so much difference when you dont concede a penalty on the first /second tackle after finishing a set in the opposition 10/20 and then go on to give away either another penalty or a six again which usually led to a try.
The other factor was we turned Wigan around 3 or four times something we should be doing a lot more untill we have the cutting edge to open teams up in the oppossition 20.
Its plain to see that Grix has got us fitter with a better defensive structure and our attacking line was deeper,so he has to be commended for that but it is his job after all and its certainly taken time for the penny to drop on the Indiscipline issue.
Lets hope we can continue to be competitive for the rest of the season. My concern is that apathy has kicked in big time with FC supporters but my opinion is unless the club can pull off some major signings of exciting players with the quotas thay have they will struggle to win back the lost fans.

Fans/people are fickle. If we do well next season may be this season fans will be back not in their droves but back. I think yesterday’s attendance reflected that whilst we have been a lot better some fans only want a win and it was not expected. I enjoy a competitive game where we are in with a chance. That has been the case in the last month. So I will attend the games if I can. I hope others do?

| I can see where your coming from Bombed Out. But there are a few who hide behind " it's my opinion" to have regular non stop digs at FC. If you can be bothered to write pages and pages of how bad the club players coaches are then surely you would be happy to celebrate a win without the nonstop digs. Anyway as you rightly say what a performance yesterday

I do worry about how much self-inflicted damage has been wrought on the club in these past four years.
I fear we may have lost some supporters permanently. In these situations, people drift away, find other things to do with their time, get out of the habit of going to games and after a while lose interest in the club and sport for good.
Think some absent fans out there will need sustained encouraging signs before they consider returning. This year has felt like the final straw for a lot of the 'floating' voters. Hopefully, the club can find some way of enticing them back, and soon, or they will disappear for good.

| After now being able to watch the game it was again a very good TEAM performance and Grix and the coaching staff have certainly made inroads in to fitness, concentration, consistency and discipline since Smiths departure.
I know it was only his first game but for all the doubts of signing Vuniyayawa for the remainder of the season i thought he had a great game.
In regards to Aydin we’ve certainly had Rovers pants down and spanked both cheeks swapping him for Brown. Thought that was his best performance since joining at LF.
Litten again another impressive showing and the likes of Balmforth, Charles & Martin getting better each week.
I admit I’ve been critical of Trueman but thought his performance was a big improvement on recent showings.
Thought Walker was outstanding and showed what a threat he is and solid defensively. With the likes of Walker, Moy & Litten I’d question whether we really need to go looking for a quota fb.
Still think Wigan played their part in us getting the win due to their uncharacteristic errors but we for once took advantage of the errors and many were forced by our effort.
Hopefully that win against the reigning WCC & league leaders will have huge affect on confidence
