That's a first year after finishing your degree, people then go on to other professional qualifications. Ask Mrs. B if when she finished her training contract for her ACA/ACCA within 2 to 3 years of graduating if she was still on £23k. You'll probably find its closer to £40k.
How many Doctors or Solicitors do you know still on below £30k?
All but the last half a dozen of those are probably still higher than most people earn who decided to leave education at 16.'"
You could have replied with how a graduate treats statistics, who presented them, who manipulated them, then expanded on why and the pitfalls of both quantitative and qualitative research, but I understand why you did not

Really?
Maybe you could list all this stuff that students get and exactly how much it costs the 'working class'? Or have you just swallowed the crap the media and Government are peddling wholesale?

| Thought there was a surplus of nurses already and 50,000 NHS jobs at risk. Not sure it's a career move I'd be making unless I was looking to move overseas

Who covers the interest on the loans?
Who foots the bill for the unpaid loans?

The Student, when he/she repays their loan. According to Hutchies link the average starting salary for a graduate is 25k - 29k so most students start repayments on their first job.
The banks probably, they issue the loan the same as they would to you or I.
Persons with degrees statistically earn more and contribute more to the economy and taxes through earning and spending.

But not all of them.. And if they get made redundant/lose their job they stop paying. The loans are under written by the government so therefor 'non-payments' are covered by the taxpayer.
I know a few people with degress who work normal/lower paid jobs.
Anyway.. the point has been missed completely here. I don't mind that students get these loans as, as you say, they 'potentially' contribute more to taxes though not necessarily alot more but it's the point that they claim poverty and get over 35% of an Hull FC season pass and discounts on almost everything they buy, when 'workers like myself pay more for everything even though they will be much more comfortable when they become a higher earner.
It's the simple thing of this country in 'looking after' the rich and the poor can cover it... just in a different guise.
Maybe the reason these discounts are around is that these businesses know that there's alot of 'spare' cash bouncing around and that they all wanna get a piece of it!!

| Once you start paying £15,000 or more you start paying back your loan and interest. Obviously, the more you earn the more you pay back a month.
With the new government, it's £21,000 I think.

So £21k then.. and if your wages drop below that or you lose your job, you don't pay and the interest (1% ish) is frozen...... after 25 years the remaining debt is wiped out!!

Well £21k from now, not for the 100,000s of students who went to Uni before the coalition government.
And I doubt that someone with a degree will be earning below £21k for 25 years!

| I'd happily see any demographic given discounted tickets if it means empty seats will be filled.

You've always got to strike a balance with making sure you don't off the people who pay full whack though.
