By all accounts next year the RFL are looking into a new rule that says any bans must be taken against the team it was committed if that makes sense, so if he got a three matcher for argument sake one of those would be offset till the next match against wigan !! not a bad idea'"
It's a bloody ridiculous idea.
All it would mean is Ablett is missing from the next three Leeds v Wigan games, Wigan would still face 13 Leeds players, only Ablett would be missing. What would happen if he transferred, would his new club then be penalised?
If a player cops a three game ban for an incident in the GF, it could be two seasons until he completes the ban. Justice must be fair but also swift.
Totally, utterly barking.

Think it means only 1 game against Wigan, the other 2 would be his next 2 games whoever they may be against

So he'd still be free to play until he played Wigan again?
Barking!

And if he moved to another club they'd be penalised too
Can't imagine why RL has never taken off

Hull will give us a tough game but the key is to silence their fans in the Threepenny Stand. We have to do this because if we do'nt they will get behind their side and lift them in a way you've never seen, heard or witnessed before.

Will you please stop calling the pitch an island.
They are not usually surrounded by water.
Must we follow the aussies in everything related to our game.

ITS ROUGH ITS TOUGH ITS RUGBY LEAGUE!!!: |
|
| Imo Bailey is one of the dirtiest players I have seen.. he's the type of player that people who don't like RL say "its a game played by thugs" fulfills the stereotype.
Abletts challenge to me could've been avoided and well done to tomkins for shaking it off but this rule change would be ridiculous.

| the problem is Ablett lost his appeal, but it cost him £200, he should have had the ban doubled because of a frivolous appeal, that might make cheats like him think twice.

Couldn't agree more, he should have had at the very least one extra game as a penalty and an extra £500 fine.

A reckless challenge yes & deserving of the extra fine & possibly a game added on for good measure, but a cheat what is that in relation to?

Haven't they started doing that in Football, not doubling the ban but adding a game if the appeal is deemed as frivolous. Sure Rio Ferdinand had that happen at the end of last season.

Agree this could be a problem but have always thought that if the player is put on report and banned at a later date then there should be some sort of benefit for the sinned against club. After all, Saints are going to benefit form Ablett being out when in reality he should have been sent off which would have seen Wigan have the advantage. Think there are pro's and con's which could make this difficult to implement.
