I remember a guy called John Cass... not seen or heard of him since the days of the late 70`s.... always wore a bowler hat. He ran the Catley Coach trips from George on Walton street. Always remember at Keighley where the stand sort of went lower than pich level.... there was a copper stood on pitch side and John enticed him into the crowd and swapped his bowler for the police helmet.... what a laugh, cant remember if he got arrested or not tho.

Remember a game at York one Boxing day morning. The oval ball bar behind the stand had opened early and when we went in it was full of Hull fans cheering.Upon further inspection there was JC bent over the snooker table with just a feather sticking out of his nal icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

One of my funniest memories was an away game at Sheffield, I think it may have been the Yorkshire cup semi final where Jacko scored the fastest every try after 9 seconds. It was in the early 90’s when we had introduced the purple into our shirt.

Karl and the TLO had that big black, white and purple flag made and loads of us from the 3d stand contributed to the cost. It got its regular unveiling, much to the annoyance of people who were behind us in the boxes, who claimed they could not see. A couple of bobbies came up and asked us to put it away, which we did. However, as soon as they had gone, out came the flag again. This tit for tat went on for around 5mins, until one of the coppers grabbed hold of one end of the flag.

One by one around 5 or so officers got hold of the flag and seemed to challenge around 20 or 30 FC fans to a tug of war, only we weren’t interested and all let go at the same time, resulting in the Police officers hurtling down the steps of the Don Valley stadium , to the amusement of the black and white army icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

I know, he was a right character.... another time in London for the CC Final, we were walking through the streets late on a night and he dropped his trousers and undies.... and placed his d**k into the exhaust pipe of a Rolls Royce that was parked up and shouted "THERE, I BET I`M THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD WHO HAS F****D A ROLLS ROYCE"... I dont know how we never got arrested... happy days.

Every time this thread comes up I post this, but I'm going to do it again.

Watching Adam Hughes being systematically destroyed by the 3d stand after dropping a ball that lead to one of our tries. We were on his back for the entire game after that and he couldn't do a thing right. Every subsequent mistake was cheered like we'd won the cup final and accompanied by another chorus of "aaadaaaaaaam" or "there's only one Adam Hughes". I enjoyed it immensely.

Remember that well....... Hughes got the ball, dropped it, I think David Maiden scooped it up and scored... Every time Widnes had the ball we would sing " GIVE IT TO ADAM..... GIVE IT TO ADAM..... GIVE IT TO ADAM" icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

I used to stand in there when I was a little 'un with my dad in the early 90's. certainly a few characters in there! Anyone remember a guy called Mad Dog? icon_smile.gif There was also a guy my dad knew who he referred to as 'Big Bob', still see him now and again at games, and his missus who was scarier than him.
Remember a lady too, who must have been way below 5 foot tall. She must to stand on the concrete ledge thing right at the front. Still see her too now and again.

Funny what you remember.

Just remembered that elderly couple who used to get a flask of tea out at half time and rest it on the bars.

My favourite half time entertainment in the 3d stand was to tear up my golden gamble ticket, screw it up into several little balls and take aim at the mugs of tea down below. How we would chuckle to see the recipient spin around and try to figure out where it had come from.

icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif That was ace.. remember that well. Oh how we cheered when we got a hole in one !!. And who was the guy from the Hull Supporters or Black & White society, who went on the pitch at half time, when they sponsored a game?... we would all start to sing " AH, AH , AH , AH, STAYING ALIVE, STAYING ALIVE" ???

icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif quality. That is Dave "Bingo" Bingham, still on the balck and whites and does not miss a game home or away. I know him pretty well and will have to remind him of the entertainment he provided for people without realising it.

Not a 3d character as such, but got to mention Mark Denman.Mark was definitely a larger than life character who normally watched games from the Airlie St end in the corner.Great character and a heart as big as a lions.Mark would do anything for his friends and I for one miss the big guy.

I know he will be watching from above and cheering on the Black n Whites.
