| The Hull fan in me disliked seeing Leeds lift the trophy. The RL fan in me thought it was about time the heart of that Leeds squad got their hands on the famous trophy. Whatever people think of Leess you have to say that Burrows McGuire Sinfield etc are the type of players we wish we had in our team. Born winners who buy into and respect a culture at the club.
We blah on about our potential but until we get that kind of culture at our club then we will continue to watch Leeds win stuff while we totally under achieve.
I thought it was a very disciplined performance from Leeds. They never gave Cas a sniff. That you have to admire.
We need to stop with the egos at our club and aspire to be Leeds. I know that is not what some wish to hear or read but it's a fact. They develop stars (maybe not world class stars) but stars of our game and win. They are not afraid to discard those not buying into the culture and when they do buy players they compliment what they already have. Their challenge is now to replace Peacock Sinfield McGuire etc and maintain their enviable record.
I still dislike them intensely though

In all honesty I'd say that the Leeds model has been as effective if not more so than Wigans. So yes as I said I'd follow Leeds lead not Wigan.

A coach who failed just as badly as Radford during his time at London, and who many people expected to be a disaster at Leeds.
Go figure.

They were 9th the following 2 seasons. Yeah, the last two seasons London were gash, but so was their squad..but us with a much better squad have fared worseunder the pub landlord than London did under McDermot
If you think the savant that is Radford would have improved that London team and done better than what BM did then you're truly deluded!
Or are you going to say that 7th, 9th & 9th with a far weaker squad is a worse result than 12th with a superior squad??

Did I say anything about being worse? No. And you've spectacularly missed the point.
McDermott looked like the worst coach in SL during the last couple of years at London and many questioned the sanity of appointing him at Leeds. And yet his results speak for themselves.
He also speaks highly of Radford. Does that make him deluded?
It's never just the coach or just the squad.

Also, there is a seasonal thread on the Leeds board about him getting sacked.

| You said with reference to McDermott "A coach who failed just as badly as Radford during his time at London"
It is YOU that made the miscomparison, McDermott has gone onto greater things...and Radford won't..
Clearly you didn't even understand what you'd written yourself by trying to compare the two when they aren't comparable at all, BM showed understanding of RL and coaching from early on and did well with a poor London squad...Radford..well, he's failed epically with a decent squad and plenty of backing from the the owner and a rock solid foundation.
So, actually it's you that missed the point....

No there isn't, it's one long running old thread on the Leeds board and if you read more than the title you will see the general opinion of the most successful coach in Leeds history.

So you comment on a topic without knowing what you are commenting about, about a team that you are not really interested in. Why did you bother?

*Sigh*
There is no 'miscomparison' (sic). Two coaches in their first jobs struggling and looking out of their depth. One transferred to a club with an already established culture of success and he blossoms into greatness. The point being that no coach operates in a vacuum and there are limits to what can be achieved if the squad and culture aren't right.
Radford may or may not go on to greater things. Personally I have my doubts but McDermott rates him so who knows? But if you don't think he's currently facing some of the same issues that McDermott had at London then you aren't paying attention.

Radford's first senior game in charge of Hull was the game after Hull had lost an intense play off game 18-76. If that's a decent squad and a solid foundation I'm glad you didn't build my house
