The accountants, yes. Not so sure about the other two.

I reckon being at Wembley helps raise the profile of the club with potential sponsors and signings in a way that being a beaten semi-finalist wouldn't.

Seems to write a very wide variety of articles. I reckon he's a made-up name they put against stories they've bought from independent journos etc. Makes you wonder where the original source of this story was, in the week before a Derby game.
I assume that Blunderside will now be spending as much effort tracking down the numbnuts who created this story as they did promoting it? Maybe a significant amount of SportsTalk could be dedicated to it like last night?

Done a little digging and apparently he's the Star's sports editor, based in the north west of England

Perhaps the story would have been better coming out just before the Salford game then. After all, as the great Ted Bovis said "the secret of comedy is timing"

It was Jeremy Cross' name on the article when I read it yesterday morning.

I was thinking it was intended to unsettle us for the Cup Final against another north western team, rather than the Derby, but as you say it would have been more effective being released nearer the time.

That's the name I saw so was confused by the Julia Stott name. I looked for Jeremy Cross on Twitter and although he has not tweeted he has an account - His title is' Northern Football correspondent of the Daily Star'

I couldn't give a monkey's what it said when you got around to reading it the original story was attributed to Julie Stott. Take a look through this thread and you'll find reference to James Smailes saying she had denied ever writing it.
Jeremy Cross is in fact Chief Sports Writer. From the Sports Journalists AssociationThe Daily Star has confirmed the appointments of Jeremy Cross as chief sports writer and David Woods as chief football writer.
Cross joined the Star three years ago from the Wardles Agency and before that worked for the Yorkshire Post.
He was recruited to cover the Manchester clubs and will continue to be based in the north.
You need to remember who owns The Star. Richard Desmond, the same man who owns The Express and Channel 5 (hence the Star's fixation with Big Brother)

| Don't read the rag and never will, the word journalist and chief porky teller are one and the same to me.
perhaps a email barrage of Daily Star may give them a kick in the vitals they clearly need.
