Quote: PAUL M "The excuse I mentioned is the one we have had after every poor display. Not used today though.'"

Nope. It's a long time since I've heard a Hull coach give quite such a blunt appraisal of a performance.

I'm thinking that the 'training field' thing isn't so much an excuse as a simple statement of fact, and aimed at certain players rather than the fans. Looks like we have a few who don't want to pull their weight any more.

It's just the usual line he uses from what I've noticed. He was very blunt but ultimately it's up to him to change it. AP will back him but only time will tell.

Quote: subwaysav "cant beleive what I have just witnessed? really disapointed with briscoes contribution not giving forwards abreak by taking the ball up from dummy half missed sharpy for that reason, he must do it at least 7 or8 times amatch, also thought there were players on the pitch who were injured!! manu could hardly walk let alone run! but you really shouldnt give up a20pt lead, are players not mentally strong enough? what adisaster!!'"

Briscoe worked as hard from dummy half today as he has done all season. Crooks isn't as good as Sharp at bringing it out though, so we missed some big yards there.

I honestly can't remember a worse performance than that in the last couple of seasons apart from the Leeds play off game last season, it really was embarrassing.

I like many others was livid with yesterdays capitulation to a very ordinary but more determined than us Wakefield side. I stood there in total disbelief in what was happening and at the time said that our season was put on the back burner for another year (again).

Today I'm trying to be more positive and looking at the season as a whole and have come up wih the following.

good performance wins
St Helens away
Widnes home
Castleford away
Rovers home
Leeds home

poor performance wins
London home
Wakefield home
Bradford home
London away

Draws
Warrington home (lucky to have them first up)
St.Helens home (should have won)

Games lost we should have won
Salford away (last ten loss)
Rovers millenium (last minute loss)
Wakefield away (Fooking livid)

Games we got thumped
Huddersfield away
Wigan home (wasn't the first, won't be the last)

so although some of recent loses have been very disapointing, we have progressed, we are winning games that we would have lost in previous years, and our losses this year, apart from two games, we have lost by 2 points.

I'd like to say that we still have a lot to play for but I feel we shall still come up short, and by a good way, because we lack the killer instint on teams once we have games in the bag.

Yup, and that's just your fans !

After bricking the Saints supporters' bus last week, you then throw bottles at players this week.
I suppose that was just feral kids too, (the fact they was inside the KC with black & white shirts on is just pure coincidence again)

Perhaps your inadequate team performances are little pieces of karma returning the favour !

Crap fans, crap team, crap results,....

I was at the match yesterday. Spent last night drowning my sorrows and was at work today and didnt log on here until tonight. I haven't read the rest of this thread so apologise in advance if I am repeating what others have said.

In nearly 30 years of supporting Hull FC I have rarely felt as disappointed, let down and indeed betrayed as I did at 5.15pm yesterday.

I thought there was every possibility that we would lose yesterday, but not in the manner we did.

Our abject capitulation from a winning position was as shameful. At 30-10 we should have been out of sight. No way should we have let them score four tries without reply. However once Wakey got a roll on there was only going to be one winner and once they hit the front it was obviously game over.

I don't know why we collapsed in the way we did but I do know it is totally unacceptable.

I fully support the coach in whatever he needs to do to ensure that it does not happen again. One thing I would do would be to immediately
suspend all contract negotiations with the current squad until the end of the season. These are a distraction. Those who are OOC at the end of the season and who want to stay should have to earn a new deal. Likewise there should be no talk of extensions for those who are contracted beyond the end of this season. Anyone who is contracted who does not want to play for us and does not buy into what Gentle is trying to do can be offered a release from their contract as we did with McKinnon and as Rovers have done with Wheeldon and Watts.

No wonder we fall apart late in games. Most of younger players must be knackered - staying up late tweeting each other like school kids.

Too many negative influences in my opinion. AT one time O'Meley was our Talisman and now , he has put weight on and is leaving. Turner , I say no more. There are others leaving not this season but next.

You need ALL players singing off the SAME sheet and we do NOT have that at FC at the moment. We did at the beginning as the 'new' coach had his honeymoon period.

Does he ask certain players to stay away from training ? big risk but there are negative voices in the camp and it is showing on the field. These are the very same players and the games are being lost in their heads.

Will Gentle be ruthless ? is he capable ? Will Adam get involved ala Shane Richie when Bomber was incapable of handling the cancer within ?

Just seen that and thought the same - good thing they dont come on this forum - Spelling tests from Standee etc me thinks- At least they were not educated in the Hull School system or we would be getting a right kicking.

So Westerman gets shot for being below par, in only his fourth game back fom injury, while other players get away with it. What a joke.
Lynch - poor
Tickle - poor
Manu - Poor
O'Carroll - poor
Turner - poor
Briscoe - poor
No one was complaining when he was ripping it up down the right hand channel last year though. For the rest of the year he and Whiting should be at 6 (as per Leeds game as the extra 2nd row) or 13, with Horne at FB.

I agree with most, can't fault Lynch's effort though, granted it wasn't his most effective game but it's hard when your one of only two players in the pack putting a shift in (moa the other).
