I hate Saints!
The relationship between us and Wire has changed since they stopped being woeful, but I get more pleasure out of beating Saints than anyone.
I dislike Wire fans more, but that's only because ive encountered a lot of d!ckhead Wire fans, and know a fair few good lads who are just unfortunate enough to support Saints. I imagine it'd be different if I was mates with some of the dire lot.

| Quote: Horatio Yed "It all depends
If you ask Wire fans most will say Wigan
Saints fans will say Wigan
Widnes and Salford will say Wire
Wigan hate Wire slightly more than Saints
Wakey usually say Cas and vice versa
KR will say FC and again vice versa
Bradford will say Leeds
Leeds will probably say Wigan or Bradford
There are a few factors'"
We will always hate Saints more than Wire.
Get back to your Dire-Widnes Derby games.

Really, post the subject on your forum, a pie and a pint says Wigan hate Wire more than Saints.
We get the usual "I have more respect for Saints, at least they have won things"
It might be a bigger game that you look forward to, but i'll think you'll find you're wrong.

| If hatred was on a scale of 1 to 10
Other S/L teams 1
Leeds 2
Rovers 10
I would love them to go completly out of business. I admit I'd miss the derby
but the joy I'd get from not seeing them in the S/L table would be worth it

I do find this attitude odd, maybe you wasn't around in the 80's, but when the 2 teams where the best sides in the comp it was fantastic for the sport and for the city. I'd got no joy from seeing FC out of business, in fact I'd get no joy from seeing any other team out of business. My ideal situation was for us to win everything with FC as runners up. Still each to their own I suppose, just find it a bit of a bitter chip to carry around.

I found the banter more witty in the 80's as well, very few had the bitter hatred that some are showing now. When we played games back then there was usually a trophy or something very meaningful at stake, rather than just bragging rights.

Pure Madness. You had Hull fans refusing to watch their own team at the KC on Sunday because Rovers where sharing the gate receipts. When it's as petty as that you have a problem

You have to bear in mind that in the run-up to the merger it [iappeared[/i that your then CEO was doing his utmost to see us go out of business. That's left a legacy of anger among some supporters that is going to take a long time to fade if it ever does.

On a lesser scale then a member of the opposing teams boardroom but on the same lines Hull Fans where quite insistent that they never wanted to see Hull KR in Super League and wanted our club to go under. Could argue that the Hull fans said their opinions in much larger numbers. After the years Rovers have spent in SL I wonder how many Hull fans have changed their opinions. I'd warrant not many.

I think it was worse in the 80s tbh, Good Friday was a testament to that! I remember massive police presence and horses down Airlie Street during derbies.

It maybe was or maybe the bad memories fade quicker than the good. Brickings at the boulevard and seemingly a hell of a lot more trouble than we see nowadays or maybe it was because I was a hell of a lot younger in the 80's and saw it more.
I do believe that the City and the sport is a far more attractive proposition with 2 sides in SL than it is with just one.

I do agree but the buzz around the city was amazing and to be fair rugby in Hull is better now than it was in the late 90's early 2000's. There is more to talk about and if you discount some of the lower common denominators on RLfans the banter is still good and in the whole good natured. Nothing better than having one over on my B&W friends and vice versa for them.

Oh yes the buzz was awesome in the 80s!!
I think the problem is the newish supporters would sooner win a derby than any-thing else!! me personally I would lose every-one if it guaranteed a piece of silverware
