How do you know whether or not he agreed with what he was asked to say or even challenged it internally?

No offence intended, but you seem to have a very naive and idealistic view of what goes on inside companies and how they deal with the outside world.

What good would it have done the club if JR had openly come out against the BOD and gone "off message"? Without a replacement regime ready to come in it would just have damaged us and made things worse. His job is to promote a positive image of FC and in trying circumstances he did that pretty well. I was just as frustrated as the next man with some of his spin towards the end but sacking a guy who can do what he did in those circumstances wouldn't make sense. Hopefully going forward he'll have some real positives to spin and not have to spend so much time firefighting.

IMO, the sheer amount of utter tripe that he constantly gave us went beyond the remit of his pay packet. The majority of us could see right through it to the point where he became a joke figure (akin to the Iraqi minister who's name escapes me) but any self respecting guy with a minimal respect for the fans, would not have continued like he did.

I have zero respect for the guy and he should go the same way as the rest of them are currently doing.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I have to say that you appear to have led a sheltered life if you think that Rule did anything out of the ordinary for someone in his position.

No matter. If AP thinks he's not doing a good job then I doubt he'll hesitate to get rid, but in the meantime it doesn't look like he's high up on any hit list.

The comment wasn't meant to offend - my apologies if it did. I'm just surprised that the pretty run-of-the-mill things that Rule did have got under your skin so much and assumed that it was down to a lack of exposure to those same things from other sources.

He really didn't do anything unexpected for someone in his position and you can come across the same stuff every day of the week.

IMO JR has done a decent job, he did give us the flannel, however he would have been acting as directed by his managers. He has done a great job with merchandising etc and this imo warrants him to keep his job under his new managers, the difference is I doubt he will expected to give us the flannel as so far everything appears to be on the table and open with the fans. The bottom line is though if the club or any club want to give flannel it is indeed JRs role, it is the way of the world.

I think i speak for a fair few people in saying that I think Rule is full of and i dont trust him. That maybe because of what he was made to do under the old regime but mud sticks. Anyway he's not needed now we have Pearson and McRae running the club. Keeping Rule is akin to the too many chiefs analogy.

Adam pearson obviously disagrees with you because he has gone on record as saying that James Rule would cotinue to run the club.

Rule is as trustworthy as whoever he works for, more or less. Unless you distrust AP there's no reason not to trust Rule.

And unless AP gives up his role at City he won't have time to do Rule's job as well as his own. Plus I'm not sure that AP's talents overlap Rule's enough to do away with his services. If AP does ever get rid of Rule then expect a new marketing manager/director to be appointed.
