Quote: barham red "Isn't any business man who invests in sport in the same mould, look at people like Abramovich, Lerner even if you look at RL look no further than Moran I can't see him being a pussy cat businessman.
Is Kath interested in Hull FC, she's not from Hull, she never invested in Hull, her dream was to bring RL to the North East yet she dropped that as soon as it went to the wall and she saw an out.
The merger thing is a worry but unless he gets on the board of either club he can't direct that. I personally don;t think he'd have a leg to stand on 'booting' you out of the KC or that he would even try, no more than Whelan would with Wigan.
RL in this country drastically needs investment, maybe we're kicking the guy for no reason.'"

Kath has always being a passionate rugby fan....I assure you Allam will not even know the rules of the game!

We're not, they are. The gear is what he will be doing with the KC and the effects on FC (totally understandable BTW), but now it will turn to hatred because he has invested in Rovers.

He knows the rules, he just prefers to apply his own instead.

Quote: Kosh "He's invested in the club. End of.

I honestly don't want one penny of his cash. I don't trust him as far as I could spit him into a strong headwind and I don't want him to have anything to do with my club. He's bad news.'"

For someone normally so measured you've really taken against this guy. Have you got some personal knowledge about him or his business dealings? The little contact I've had has always shown Allam senior to be a decent guy. I've not heard anything or seen any evidence of him being dishonest or any more ruthless than any successful person (though I'm no longer living in Hull). Have you? He seems a bit naive about the way fans think etc but I'd have thought we're in a strong position. As you say we have a , hopefully , watertight lease so even being cynical about his motives we're in his way and should have some leverage as a result. Someone else alluded to the fact that RL needs money desperately at a time when there is precious little about. We're not going to get it if we are so suspicious and damning about anyone with money. If we don't pay people or give a return we'll end up an amateur game or worse an amateur game that thinks it's professional and there's already plenty of that sort of thing around at Redhall and in the lower leagues. Things aren't perfect by a long way with FC at the moment so we shouldn't just dismiss change without proper consideration. Unless as I say there is some evidence that says Allam has a hidden agenda or a dishonest track record etc.

I don't think that's the case TBH. Many on here suspected this guy's motives well before today and their suspicions will remain as they always were.

Quote: Staffs FC "Just a matter of a few weeks ago Allam was openly saying, on Radio Humberside, that he favoured a merged SL club in the city. He made it abundantly clear he couldn't be seen to be favouring either rugby team hence the merger being the only way forward to allow him to invest and "help out the rugby fans of Hull". In the blink of an eye he now seems to have abandoned those principles and has instead given some backing to Rovers. This should tell everyone who didn't already realise it exactly how trustworthy this guy is and what his word actually means. I tend to agree with Kosh that this makes it less likely that the KC will be sold any time soon, however the possibility of at least an attempt to stitch up our club has surely moved closer.

All this total and utter cr@p about "helping the citizens of Hull" and "putting something back" is nauseating to be honest.'"

Precisely.

Assem Allam is a businessman but he's no John Paul Getty as some Rovers supporters are probably thinking.

It's pretty clear what his plans are and all RL fans in the city should be very wary.

I've no inside knowledge whatsoever, but I've been around a while and I've seen his like before. Nothing changes.

Then there's his public pronouncements on RL in general and in the city in particular, and his tendency to say one thing then do another. His threats over the KC/Melton don't sit well with me either. He's essentially trying to bully the council into selling off an asset.

I've had a very bad feeling about this guy ever since he hit the media following his purchase of City. Nothing he's done in the meantime has served to change my mind - in fact he's simply reinforced my initial view. I [icould[/i be doing him a huge miss-service, but I honestly don't think so.

I can't see HCC selling him the stadium, as I have said before, a very many legal issues before you even get into the moral one's.

I am not too worried, we don't need any money investing in Hull FC, if it wouldn't be for the board supporting our mediocre coach I wouldn't have many complaints about how our club was being run, ie as a sustainable business with quality playing staff, instead of one that needed propping up by individual investors.

My only worry is the situation with the KC, i don't think the council will sell it but if they did I would expect that our legal tenancy agreement will be protected.

Has to be some ulterior motive here, the guy gives Rovers £1 million, this even before he has had a meeting with HCC council about buying the KC. If the sale doesn't go ahead and he builds his dream stadium at Melton will he just write off the million, can't see it myself. Just hope he leaves our club alone.

Thats a noble wish but unfortunately to be successful in sport nowadays you seem to need a 'sugar daddy' so to speak. You only have to look at how Warrington have risen to see that RL looks to be following football in this manner.
