The other clubs you mention may not have had SOP but they will have used something similar. Any club marketing department who doesn't try and whip up enthusiasm for the season ahead should be sacked on the spot.
And if anyone really felt sufficiently let down by the difference between the SOP marketing campaign and real life that they 'lost interest' then they should probably go find another hobby.

Sorry but it's just your constant over-simplifying and exaggeration. Of course nobody wants the club to be bankrupted or thinks Agar tells the players to play rubbish! it's a stupid level to bring a debate down to.
Re what I want from Agar I want him to show some sign of ability to produce a successful, entertaining team and he hasn't been able to do that. You can count on one hand in 2 1/2 years the number of times that his teams have given performances that are more than the sum of their parts. |

And I had an email a few years ago from the RFL and SL that says the opposite. As did many others.
I'm beginning to think that the answer depends on who happens to be manning the PC when your question arrives.

I'll over simplify things for you. If you don't like it, don't go.
As for over exaggeration? Coming from the guy that would "put his house" on the majority of fans wanting Agar sacked, that's priceless.
As for season of promise dinners, all clubs do similar things. Only 2 teams ultimately win anything, I really don't see what your point is with this. |

I don't buy into that nonsense i'm afraid.
We run 3 competitions;
The Superleague
The Grand Final Series
The Challenge Cup
The way i understand it is this;
The league plays out as with any other league. League positions 1 to 14. The league winners receive the League Leaders shield.
The top 8 qualify for the Grand Final playoff series. Prize money is pooled and paid out depending on the effective placement in that competition. So you can come 7th in the playoffs but you still finished 6th in the superleague. It is to do with prize money and a way of distributing it.
Unless i see evidence otherwise, obviously. |

The playoffs are not a separate competition. Hence the winners of the GF are the SL champions, not the GF champions.
And we've had the playoffs for longer than we've had the League Leaders Shield. |

But rather than come out with my bad points, and actually simplifying things yourself, what do you actually want Richard Agar to do to achieve those goals.
We all know and want him to produce a trophy winning formula and entertaining rugby.
But, how? What does he do? and what does he say? |

Have you missed the whole point of this thread?
As usual the thread seems to have gone away from the original purpose of the thread (nothing new there then) and I think the Pro/Anti Agar/board stuff has been done to death. In fact it is getting a tad boring now.
