This really, really isn't a criticism of HFC - others clubs, including Rovers, make a splash over sponsors - but if it is the announcement of which commercial company is going to have their name on your shirt next year, that isn't, to me, something to trail and generate enthusiasm amongst fans.

Sponsorship is a crucial revenue stream, but not a source of excitement, surely.

Depends who the sponsor is really as it could make the generation of revenue a bit more exciting for the fans.

The way to make it 'exciting' would be to link it to something rugby-related. 'This new deal will allow us invest on an unprecedented level in our academy set-up' or such like. If they do that, they might carry it of.

They have categorically stated on the OS that it's a player signing;
