I'm sure if he's not playing Fitz will captain the team...but as a person/player/athlete it's a top appointment in my opinion!

Very disappointed it's not Fitzgibbon.

Thought Fitz may have got it, but I am not unhappy with the decision, I think he will relish the role.

Standee, why us it 'silly'? The guy has won everything, must command respect and seems to have matured since his 'hair raising' days.

If true a poor choice. It looks a good decision on paper but he needs to be given the freedom to play and not worry about other stuff such as captaincy.

You only need to read his book to realise he's as useful as captain as Radford, it isn't in his character to be a role model.

Tbh I don't care about that, he is a natural leader and will do loads of talking and organising anyway but he does not need the actual responsibility of being the captain, Fitz should do as it won't affect his game whatsoever.

IF TRUE - Fine by me. We will have other leaders in the pack as well. Long will be on the field for the full game. I don't buy into this idea he will be 'weighed down' by the responsibility. His job is to organise and get us round the field and he will do that. He wont be fretting about what his next captaincy-type responsibility will be. For the first time for years we will have leadership all over the place and the benefits will be massive. Hopefully Longy will be inspired to take 'his' team to some success.

I think time will tell, and like I mentioned I believe it could rejuvinate his game, he has clearly settled down and it may be the time he is ready for the responsibilty.

Agar has the balls to change the captain away from Radford and still people moan.

Lets me honest what does a captain really do anyway, choose if to kick to goal, as long as he leads from the front and sets a good example of the pitch, it will do for me.

I always think the captain should be someone who plays 80 minutes and plays a pivotal role in the team.
