Flannery at loose man is having the same negative effect on Saints that Radford has for Hull, Wellens is off form (big style) when on form he’s like an extra halfback, Cunningham is not the player he was and the likes of Clough and Gardner are not Imo good enough. I think the problem Hull may end up having with Long is over-reliance. No matter how big a 'name' he is in the RL world he simply isn't the player he was. He no longer has that burst of speed that was integral to his game 8-10 years ago, and his kicking game was never the strongest, Coupled with the fact that in the last few years Saints have utilised the 'piggy-back' style of rugby and it has led to the ever-increasing opinion that Long was merely there on reputation alone, and that some of the more learned Saints supporters were clamouring for Matty Smith to be given a shot at 7.

As good as your forward pack looks next year, don't be at all surprised if Long fails to be the creative master you're desperate for. On the other hand, don't be surprised if he leads you to all 3 trophies and wins Man Of Steel!
