He ran the game for the first 30, but don't let facts get in the way.

Talking about facts, ho are those accounts coming along, gas mark 4 for a while should have cooked them by now!?

I thought Longy was at best 'patchy' in respect of his attacking play, but as Dave T said, “He bosses his side” and on the main that's what Hull FC have been lacking.
The 'weaknesses' in the St Helens team Imo are very similar to our own: Pryce: He has been awful for the last year (see Richard Horne).
Flannery at loose man is having the same negative effect on Saints that Radford has for Hull, Wellens is off form (big style) when on form he’s like an extra halfback, Cunningham is not the player he was and the likes of Clough and Gardner are not Imo good enough. Coupled with a slower play the ball this has lowered their try scoring opportunities.

I think the problem Hull may end up having with Long is over-reliance. No matter how big a 'name' he is in the RL world he simply isn't the player he was. He no longer has that burst of speed that was integral to his game 8-10 years ago, and his kicking game was never the strongest, Coupled with the fact that in the last few years Saints have utilised the 'piggy-back' style of rugby and it has led to the ever-increasing opinion that Long was merely there on reputation alone, and that some of the more learned Saints supporters were clamouring for Matty Smith to be given a shot at 7.

As good as your forward pack looks next year, don't be at all surprised if Long fails to be the creative master you're desperate for. On the other hand, don't be surprised if he leads you to all 3 trophies and wins Man Of Steel! icon_wink.gif

1)He's a genuine 7, which represents unchartered territory for FC in the last several years. Tell me he's not a step on from Thorman, R Horne and Berrigan at SH.
2) He's got shedloads of experience to impart to the likes of Washy, Turner, Tansey and the reserve playmakers
3) He's been an absolutely pivotal player for Saints in a golden era for them. He'll bring some of their gameplanning and motivational insight with him.
4) He's an iconic figure (love him or hate him) and will be a draw of sorts.

I don't expect him to be an everpresent classic playmaker for us, but let's face it, Luke Robinson is SH in a team that finished above you, top drawer SHs are hardly prevalent in SL. He'll do for me.

Reading some of the more egagerated claims about Sean Long leads me to believe he should have made the dream team. Damned journo's.

Getting a little stale. We will still be buzzing around FC's face next year and most probably finishing above.
Lets face it, when you've had a really good day out and have a smile on your face do you count the pennies? icon_lol.gif

I was at the final last night and i've not been longs biggest fan over the last few year but IMO was best player on pitch last night.
