It is the way of the weak to secretly bleat to those in authority rather than fight their own battles.:27608.jpg |

He looked asured and comfortable at FB, would prefer to see him there than Horne.'"
I remember seeing him play FB in the under 21's a few times and looked fairly comfortable there. Seemed very comfortable there on Saturday too.

He really does seem very self-assured in whichever position he plays doesn't he. He doesn't seem to panic. I think his rugby-brain gives him that extra split second in which to weigh up his options so he makes few bad decisions (hope that comment doesn't come back to haunt me). He also seems to be one step ahead when defending which probably accounts for his knack of interecepting or hacking-on loose balls.

| Quote: Gordon Gekko "Disagree.
I think Washys overall skill set is better suited to LF than Whitings. Whiting is one of those players who can't command a position, but is excellent back up due to his ability to be solid wherever he plays.'"
Disagree Whiting has not had the chance to cement a position in the side,
and to say Washy is better suited to the loose forward role, well i like my loose forwards with more than a side step. He may be better suited if you want to play the extra wide running second row as we have been using (ala all teams now because the Ausies do it must be right) kind of role,
But I would rather it go to an extra flair player (Christ we don’t have enough of them as it is) so we need to utilise them.
And we aren’t utilising Rich Whitings talents in the centre or sat on the sodding bench he needs to have the ball in his hands at every opportunity and if people cant see this after last week, well I despair.
If I had the chance though I would give the 6 to Whiting for the rest of the year with berro at 7 and (if he is ok) Horne FB, we would have three quality players in the middle of the park then.
I don’t think we can afford Whiting at loose this year as our pack just isn't big enough to cope but next year it will be.

Totally agree with that comment, and where do we need someone who seems to have that little bit of time on the ball, and take the initiative??
Get the lad in at stand off, it makes sense!

Well, yes. Their record for the past 30+ years shows that they know what they're doing.

So they've tupped us at every available opportunity because they play 3 second rowers? Or because they generally produce a better standard of player, and in greater numbers, in each of the key positions?
Either way, we're not talking about international games, we're talking about what will be best for Hull. I agree with rich1977. Washy is basically another second rower and that's where I'd play him. Whiting has the potential to be every bit as important to our attacking structure next season as Nelson Mandella was in his pomp.

Ah yes they are excellent at their brand of RL. But its always astute to look at who are doing better overall than you are, and cherry pick what can improve you. Not to become a carbon copy. That is what the game has been trying to do here.
Hence we have seen any real creativity slowly squeezed out of our game. You only have to look at the lack of proper SH's to see that.
I've got a bit of a bee in my bonnet about this subject after seeing how well Richard played on Saturday. He needs to be given a pivotal role. Lets face it, we have nout to loose have we??

| Most people going OTT as regards Whiting again,he has decent utility value, but unfortunately isn't good enough to hold down a permanant position in our team, his best chance is the loose forward spot, but IMO Washbrook is better.

If he can shake the injury curse that has plagued him since he won young player of the year I think he will prove you wrong (about holding down a place). As for who is better, he or Washy: I think they are both excellent players with entirely different styles. I sometimes wonder if we have room for both on the same pitch. It's a bit like the dilemma of playing Lampard and Gerrard for England - you want them both in your side because they're so good but it's a complete waste of an opportunity to bring a talented player into another position giving you a more rounded team. This is based upon them both being 13s by the way.

Berrigan aside, he's got the best RL brain at the club. He's been desperately unlucky with injuries and if he can break that cycle, he has every chance of being in the team on a regular basis.
