At the moment? No he isn't, although he's hardly alone in that regard. He has been very good in the past, though, and may be in the future.

| I think you can put a world class half back pairing in Hulls team and it wouldnt matter, the rest of the team dont run lines, create gaps.

| Quote: Kosh "Can't be d. You're on transmit only when it comes to Horne - rationality and logic go out the window. Trying to have a discussion with someone in that mode is just plain tiresome and ultimately futile.
However, one last try...'"
Laughable even for you.
Horne just isn't good enough to be a half back, he's only good when he has others around him to pull the strings. We should be looking for better and need better.
Quote: Kosh "He's not very creative, but he does have a short kicking game that we've scored many tries from, and he's got us out of a hole on numerous occasions.'"
Pennys dropping.
Quote: Kosh "You asked when his last world-class performance was. He's never had one. Neither has any other British halfback for a generation, so your question is irrelevant. Which was the point I was making.'"
What so you decide to make it a british thing, you don't just have to be british to sign for FC you know. We could have signed alot more better half backs then him in the last ten years, the fact is because he is local we seem contempt to keep up with him.

Most halfbacks operate better with a decent partner. The last time Horne had one he did well. He's an excellent running back who is currently out of form due to a variety of factors.
Quote: pmarrow "Pennys dropping.'"
I've never claimed anything else. FYI teams do operate perfectly well with one creative half and a running/support half. Our problem has been that we haven't had a creative half to partner Horne.

You asked when his last world class game was, which implies that someone might have suggested that he was world class at some point. He isn't world class, along with all other British halfbacks. Which was the point I was trying to make.
We've been trying to sign a world class halfback for a few years now. You may have noticed our spectacular lack of success. Hardly Horne's fault. As far as the 'local player' thing is concerned, that may affect some people's opinion but not mine. I'm not local and I don't give a stuff where our players come from as long as they produce on the field. Horne has produced and I'm hopeful that he will again, health/fitness allowing.
I'd also be perfectly happy if we signed a better player and moved Horne as a result. Unlike you, it seems, I don't take these things personally. If the balance of the side is better served with Horne playing elsewhere and it results in better performances than that's all that matters to me.

| Take it you completely missed the post then were I said I'm all for the move for him to Full back. I'm not an idiot I can see what Horne can do with his footwork if given the space, the fact is like you say he needs other people around to pull the strings. So basically at the moment he is like a passenger, granted he is not on his own.
I don't hate Horne, my opinion only stands out because I am one of a few who dare critisize him. IMO he is taking up a valuable spot in the team, one which we would benefit more from by signing a creative stand off. Playing Horne at FB will give him the freedom to join the line and will be playing more to his strengths IMO.
This isn't a personal vendetta against him, its just that I would like more from a half back and even if it looks like I am on my own with that one I couldn't care. Because when he retires in another 10 years whilst playing at HB and we still haven't won SL I will gladly remind you that he was a player we have carried for many years. If he was to play FB however I could see him becomming a top member of the side again.

| Horne is below average, WELL below average, if he was an Aussie that we'd brought in as a quota player then you'd all be up in arms.
It amazes me the level of abject mediocrity some FC fans will accept and applaud, lemmings.

| Full back and Half backs have a different thinking time ..At f/b you can view your arch of vision and have a longer thinking time ..h/b got to do think in the blink of an eye ..R Horne is a player that can play in both but a good h/b has got to play behind a go forward pack ..if not given that time a good h/b would get murdered .. Saint pack gives their H/B time and space to play .. We saw what happen when you get on top of the Saints pack you beat them (semi final 2005 ).. our down fall so far our pack is getting knock back putting our half backs on the back foot ..it was a pity the two big signing didn't get they visa for the start of the season ..we just might have seen a different Hull F C

| Quote: HFC8280 "Another poor performance again today. Three or four handling errors, missed tackle for the first try on the stroke of halff time. Poor kicking but this is the norm. People so quick to point the finger at Thorman but for me Horne has been poor all season. Why is nobody calling for Horne to be dropped like Thorman? Is his commitment to his testamonial more important to him that putting in a proper shift on a weekend for our team?'"
Don't worry mate i agree
