| Quote: Mild mannered Janitor "Personally I wouldn't want any fromer player to get the job at the moment. I can't see the benefit in hiring someone principally in the basis they once played for the club. Certainly not Kearney and Kemble, as they have only really had exposure to the International game at coach.
I would seriously consider offering Brian Smith a consultacny role if I were in charge, similar to the way he assisted at Bradford in the Mid / late 90's.
As for a new coach on a full time basis, its largely dependant on if the players can be ar$ed to play. At the end of the day, Kear, Sharp and now Agar haven't been able to command the current crop of players wghich in reality hasn't altered that much since Kear left.
But it does make you wonder, when Kear was fired for losing 4 out of 6 games, yet he can assemble a team in Wakefield, with the financial pressures they have, that basically wiped the floor with Hull at the weekend.
Its time many of use realised that perhaps its not the coach's Hull have appointed which are poior, but collectively the attitude of the players over the last 3 years which has dragged up down.'"
Good coaches have the ability to demand respect and alter attitudes though dont you think? You think that if Kearney came in the attitudes wouldnt change, because i think, undoubtably they would. his sheer presence would shake the club up i feel, and we should bust a gut to get him here!

I agree to an extent, but surely all of Hull's last 3 coaches cannot have been so poor with effectively the same tools.
Kearney has not had to work with poor / average players and doesn't have to fit in with a salary Cap with the NZ national team

| What any coach at Hull needs is the board to back him and I think they are doing it with Agar. The have let him start his recruitment early and also have even spent money on one of his signings. I also believe they are backing him at the end of the season when it comes to getting rid of some deadwood.
I don't know if Agar is good enough but I do know he seems to be getting the backing of the board and maybe this is what we need rather than sacking another coach and leaving the problem untouched - the players.
That said Agar has and is continuing to do himself no favours with the errors he continues to make. I would still like to see a new man come and and have a clean sweep of staff and players but I don't see it happening, I think Agar has been given the green light to do things his way for 2010.

But what do we mean by, the board should back the coach?
For me it is the board, that should have its own aspirations, aims and goals, for the club.
They then should employ the right men to do that job. If they have employed a coach who is failing to deliver those goals, then they should get rid.
Have the board got low aspirations for the club, or is the man they employed, failing to meet their goals?

Backing someone who is clueless is potentially much worse than sacking him

So is sacking yet another coach and leaving the problem still at the club, ie the players.

the only problem if a new coach came in,would be if he could actually get rid of the 'trouble' as most of them are under contract beyond this season, and kath wouldn't help get rid of them, due to the cost of severance pay.

How do you know it's the coach and not the players?
That's the point, none of us know. However the players have seen off two other coaches in recent years so that would suggest they do seem to be a problem.
The answer is both of them are to blame, but ignoring the players lazyness and blaming Agar for everything is unfair and not true.

gary hetherington has more of a say financially than what people think.him and kath put their initial investment in for a reason-they knew they would get it back with extra bonuses.i think you will find when the next financial figures are released, they will have taken some, not all,of that half a million for themselves.but, really, who can blame them?they put their cash in when nobody else offered, and that meant that we have a club to 'support' today.maybe we ought to 'employ' gary to replace jimmy!

They didn't put there cash in because nobody bothered, they put it it after the farce that was Gateshead collpased and it was merge with Hull FC and keep that investment or lose everything.

Don't need to give you any source but take it from me it's correct
So even if Crocker N Luakai had come this season we would still be running about 30000 under cap which simply isn't good enough for a club our our size
