If we would have gone down in a season where with 6 games left we were 1/10 with the bookies to go - we would never have got back in with the (utterly flawed) franchise system and the club may well have folded.
I guess his win with Hull in the challange cup, his win with Sheffield in the challange cup and his amazing escape were all flukes!
His signings have all been first class and we are now a well established mid table side that is progressing in every department.
I still laugh when i think of how you offloaded Kear to be replaced by Compo from last of the summer wine!'"
I said he did an 'amazing' job keeping wakefield up, is that not praise enough?
he has always been good at lifting teams for big games (which all of his first season Wakefield games were) but he is still yet to show any consistency...Wakefield look good for a few weeks then revert back to the lower end of the table. And signings all first class? Peterson for one certainly isn't

Petersen is a very good player that has suffered with quite a serious injury- i reckon he will show his class over the remaining games.
If John Kear spoke with an ozzie accent he would have still bean in Cod Country - you lot would have been hailing him as the best thing since fish fingers and your club would be a real force. I thank god he was born in Yorkshire!

To be fair, if we had a good coach that had saved our club, we'd be pretty defensive about them!

Let's be clear about this - Kear went due to a combination of pi$$-poor results, odd selections, and seemingly losing the dressing room. His place of birth had zero impact on the matter - as you may have noticed, the numpty currently impersonating an SL coach at our club hails from nearby.
And don't try and paint too rosy a picture for us. I've been reading the Wakey board an I've seen the complaints about many of the same issues that dogged his tenure with us.
Kear is a decent coach who occasionally pulls a master stroke out of the hat but rather more regularly suffers from brain farts. He'll do a decent job for you but if you really want to challenge you'll need better IMO.

| I may get shot down for this but Ian Millward? He knows what he's doing in terms of tactics etc. and helped make the Saints side the force it is today. He also isnt afraid to speak out and make his opinions known.
Agar lacks anything needed to make him a good coach, its almost as if his excuses for our losses are already written before the game. As a fan ive written off this season completely - next season if Agar is still at the helm, we will once again see no improvement.
Testiment to Agars lack of coaching ability is Shaun Berrigan, probaly one of the top hookers in the world when he came over here...he now seems to have had every bit of talent sucked out of him.

| I agree that Agar must go but I think the players get away with it to lightly .
There the ones who are cheating us fans , Once agar goes you will probably see an increase in effort . It happened with kear and sharp . W e need to get rid as many as we can and change the culture of the club.I wouldnt imagine fitz , longy or crocker if he was here would stand for that type of performance .

| Quote: The Brother "Time for the board to act, and act now
It's clearly obvious that Agar is out of his depth, the club is a sham
The team and players haven't improved 1 bit under his stewardship in over a season
He has so many faults as a coach i just don't understand how he is still in the job
10 defeats in 12 says it all tbh, and it could so easily have been 12 from 12 with 2 lucky wins against salford and castleford
We have no structure, no plan B,no defensive line speed, ptb too slow, players played out of postions,no aggression,no set moves etc
His man management his poor Craig Hall prime example the kid hung out to dry instead of working with him to get his confidence back he has just turned his back on the kid which is totally out of order
Im sick of hearing all the injury talk it doesn't wash with me, start of the season we heard everything has been looked at and no stone unturned in preparation for forthcoming season well he must be looking at different squad to me
Our fitness is poor maybe this has something to do with the injurys we keep getting
We need to get a new coach who can bring his players in ready for the 2010 season we cannot have another season like this if agar stays and we start next season like this that will be another season written off
2010 is now a massive season for the club and we have to get things right starting with the backroom staff, if not fans will start voting with there feet as every seasson we start with massive expectation ytet seem to have yet another false dawn thrust upon us and met with Rules spin trying to pull the wool over our eyes
Hull Fc is a massive club with a massive fan base who many will support there club through thick and thin and many have seen a lot worse granted myself included, however the time has come for the club to get things right off the pitch and shell some money on a 1st class coach not the cheap option all the time
Speculate to acculamate, look at what Tony Smith has done at warrington with the same set of players that Lowes had attention to detail is everything something i don't beleive agar has
We deserve better and i for don't want to have another season like this next year so go get the best man for the job even if he's under contract get the money out and go deliver Brian Smith, Des Hasler,Tim Sheens coaches of that calibre all the teams at the top end of the table and winning trophys are coached by overseas coaches we need to go get the best simple
So come on Rule, kath grow some balls admit you got it wrong an do something about it'"

You've hit the nail on the head about kear. In a one off, backs to the wall situation he's great. He's a fantastic motivator of the underdog but he's proven in his stints as head coach of 4 sides that he can't get them to perform at a consistently high level every week during the season

I would hope that a new, top class coaching appointment would be looking to manage the poor performing players out of the club over the next couple of seasons and replace them with genuine quality.
It won't be possible to change the whole balance of the squad overnight but there are at least 8 front line players who should not be offered new contracts for 2010 or 2011 (whenever their current deals expire) in my opinion.
The whole culture of the club needs to be addressed and a winning mentality introduced. This may take a season or two to achieve given our current position but the sooner the club act the sooner we'll get there.

tbh i think most people would have him on the back of what he did on boots 'n' all, his tactical skills and knowledge of the game was unbelievable
