I disagree. They have better players in some positions and we have better in some positions. Overall the two squads are of similar quality.

I think you're underestimating the effect of the pi$$-poor attitude our players seem to have. One thing Morgan has been excellent at is getting his squad to play to the best of their ability in most games, and he's also instilled in them a will to win that our sorry lot can only dream of.
