| Quote: Jake the Peg "I think the least the board should do is make a public statement, telling us what they see in agar, the improvements they feel he has made at the club and the rationale for extending his contract at a point where it didn't make sense to pretty much any of their fan base. I'd also like to know where they expect to be at the end of his contract in playing terms and what we can expect in the intervening period.
Won't happen of course and those who were originally applauding the club's PR machine will see it for what it really is'"
I agree with your first point. Although I suspect their expectations of where we will be in playing terms in 2 years time will either be realistic based on evidence of Agar's influence so far and therefore disappointing (scrapping for a low play-off place), or deluded if they claim we'll be better than that, particularly if the intention includes such gems as using a quota spot on a 2 year deal for Galea.
On the PR machine point, the purpose it is to manufacture a feelgood factor and sell season tickets and merchandise. Pretty much a good job done there. Given the reality vs the spin, though, they'll have a job to replicate this later this year.

2 excellent wins against very poor opposition i should hope we are beating a Catalan side who have managed just 2 league wins all season and a Cas side who have just lost a player in a key position.

You seem almost disappointed that we won
We beat Cats comfortably and the scoreline flattered them as it did Cas today.
We have lost 3 matches against poor teams (Crusaders, Salford and Quins) so surely the last two matches represent an improvement?

| I will take a bad win anytime over a loss, I am over the moon we have now moved 4 points clear of the other lot and that is alright for me.
If we won by 1 point I would be happy 2 points is 2 points.

| Some folks seem dissapointed we won. Agar got em up for it, we came out fired up and played well, then by the players own faults they drifted away from the game plan and made some stupid mistakes. Agar got them in the dressing room and they came out back on focus and turned it round in ten minutes. The score flattered Cas, we played well for about 55 minutes. I have been the first to complain about Agar, but not this week, in my opinion he did little wrong. Except when the team itself got a bit 'heady' we nullified their attack and beat them in the forwards. I would have accepted 4th this week after that game at Murryfield. Agar won't be going anyway soon, so we might as well get behind the team.
I'll be complaining about him in the future there is no doubt but this week Its a bit harsh in my oppinion.

No doubt about it. Some definitely want our club to fail.
It's bordering on the PATHETIC.

| The OP reported about the confidence the players seem to have in Agar. What would they think if they saw supporters wearing "Agar out" shirts? I am not Agar's biggest fan and I certainly think it was wrong to extend his contract so early in the season. However it looks like he is going to be around for the forseeable future so we have to get behind the team and the coach.

| Over half way through the season and we are 4th, could easily be 7th and we might be in two weeks time but he has us challenging in the right area of the table and with players coming back to fitness then so far he is doing what he was asked to do.

Agar still has a lot of work to do to convince me, but for now at least I'm behind him and the team.

Or just fickle?
Still, since we beat Catalans and Cas I guess we could yet have Rugby League's answer to Alex Ferguson on our hands

Some people are far too easily pleased. Even the 'Expro' would admit that Leeds will finish the season above us and being above Bradford hasn't been anything to write home about for a good while now. Hudds I'll grant you but even then they've had the allegations to contend with and a coach who has said he's going. Adding that to the facts that we play some of the most mind-numbing rugby in the competition, have flopped against far inferior sides on several occasions and as fans we have yet to see a single player improve under the current 'coach' I'd say the long-term view is still pretty bleak.
I don't doubt that we'll get to the playoffs in sone capacity, but can you honestly say when we do you can see Agar outwitting Smith, McLennan etc when it really counts?
