I'm sure i've read something somewhere about restriction of trade.... IIRC if you are allowed into a country and allowed to work than you can work for anyone!! I could be wrong tho!

Wouldnt it be better to bring an overseas 7/9 in the mould of Thomas Leuluai or Rangi Chase? That way they could start on the bench and spell Houghton and if Long or Horne miss games they would slip into the halves quite easily.

Yes he would release a lot of cash to spend, but how many teams can boast having the worlds number 1 utility player in their rosta??

i have mixed feelings about SB, not him as a player but its that quota versus cash versus possiblity incoming players issue.. in an ideal world i would like SB to stay plus mason etc but RL is far from perfect huh

Tbh, if they can stick with a few more years, until Galea, Manu, Meli et al retire, it could come good - though of course by then the NRL's bigger cap might have made it irrelevant. If the HDM are right about W. Mason it undermines the whole system.
I agree about the club-trained players - this should be all about giving young players a chance. If they aren't good enough to take it, 'artificially' keeping them in SL, does little for England's prospects. Where your established players come from is, to an extent, a secondary issue - if the problem is kids not getting a chance, then when they do start to get that chance the problem will begin to disappear.

I agree it would boost the team to have a world class utility player on board, however Berro has not performed like a world class player whist he has been here (barring the odd game)....Yet we are paying him world class wages.

Finding form again and being played out of position. If he continues and gets back to his best you won't get a player of his potential quality for the same price anymore. Berro starting with houghton coming off the bench could be very potent. He can also cover multiple positions and has done so at representative level.

Then when berro and long leave the wages left can be put towards an oz halfback for 2012

He was easily our best player in 2008 and provided a bit of quality to a terrible year. Had a good year in 2009 until he got injured yet was still one of our best players in another poor year. 2010 fine he had about 2 good games at the start of year and is only now starting to get back to best.

People have short memories in sport. Happens with berro and it happens to horne. They string together 3-4 average games and then thats it they've always been rubbish

his influence on Young danny is a plus also

Would also be nice to known how many times he had to play scrum half. A position I'm sure he'll be the first to tell you hes not.

No problems with people complaining about his poor year this year but how people seem to get it in their head hes always been poor is beyond me
