I just did the referees course in Hull a week or two ago, was easy as anything to set up and the guy that ran it was nice too. Well worth doing for anyone really.

| There need to be at least 3 or 4 full games spread out over a season so the selectors can have a proper look at everyone,
my lad played in that game at centre and couldn't get the ball due to a massive second rower in front of him who is obviously not going to be throwing the ball around as he is up for selection himself so had a wasted 'trial'
MM's lad had an excellent game and people I spoke to was suprised he didn't get selected either after playing so well,
there are many others like them.

The whole set up is poor, hence why very few players from this area actually make it, so much talent goes begging.
I agree the coaches should be putting half a dozen names forward with a small account of the players and why they have been nominated, and these players should get the opportunity to display their skills over a period of time. These selectors do not know how a kid performs week in and week out, their tackle counts, their clean breaks, tries etc. They base it on a 20 minute performance, unbelievable to be honest and very few would believe what actually goes on!

| Quote: Marfa Manu "When I did my coaching badges I was taught that basically it takes 10 years to learn the game, however with boys there is a 4 yr development plan, so a kid may shine at 13 yrs and another 13 yr just looks average,so
Kid A at 13 yrs is great (get picked up by academy)
Kid B at 13yrs is average (not picked up)
However at 17 yrs kid B is by far the better player, and having been involved for the last 10yrs I am amazed the academies do not appear to recognise this, and even more amazed they do not engage with the coaches who coach the youngsters from 9-16 yrs old.
And do not get me started on size....loads of talent goes unnoticed due to a kid been classed as too small! FC are the worst for this, name me a player from Hull who came through Hull the size of Sam Obst!! (SL era)'"
In regarding size. When we went to London for the quins game, we saw the u21's wandering around the edge of the pitch before kick off and we remarked on that you couldn't tell the difference between who was the scrumhalf and who was the prop forward.
If you stood them all in line i don't think a spirit level would run out by 1 mm until you got to Lawrence Pearce. it's no wonder we can't do straight swaps in the positions as it appears their all tagged as utility players.

| We had a great record of young players coming through, with alot playing 50+ games before they were 21/22. Can't see that happening with Agar in charge, no confidence in them. The last was Tom Briscoe who made his debut in 2008!

| Been poor this year, there has been a few times that he could have put a young foward on the bench instead of Lauaki or Sharp.
Agar won't give any young kids the chance in the first team.
Other teams have given kids the chance this year and they have fitted in like established pro's, I don't buy this not ready or not big enough, Saints have brought in loads and young 18 year olds like Sarginson (same age as Crookes) have stepped up to SL quite easy.
With Agar in charge the young kids must be very frustrated.

Indeed, We need to step away from utility and think specialist. Like for like swaps from the youth teams. If they are not good enough, then we'll see for ourselves.

| agar lacks experiance, ability and confidence, therefore picks experience over youth to hide his failings.

To be fair Sarg is better than anything in the Hull Youth system by far but your point is a valid one if you use others as an example.
No reason for me why Lynne is not a starting winger at least every other week to give him some game time.
18th man is not a great experience for a kid of his age. Either put him in or send him out on loan for a year.
