Agreed and is my "measure" of Agar's coaching this year. After a poor start which was in danger of removing any chance of improvement we're still in with a chance of finishing higher than 6th but it's precisely games like tomorrow's where those credentials need to be demonstrated by victory. There's no room for defeats to , with respect, lower echelon teams any more, otherwise we will join that group at the end of the season. We've already improved in the CC icon_wink.gif

Quote: ComeOnYouUll "I think we are probably looking at 7th/8th in the league although if we can keep up the form of late we may reach 5th/6th. Any chance of higher is already gone.

We should be too strong for Widnes but then we need a little luck with a home tie in the QFs. We've proved that in one off games on our day we can beat the likes of Warrington.'"

I would go with the above. My prediction at the start of the season was 7th, so I'll stick with that. I'm still unsure about our current form, i.e. have we really turned a corner and are about to put together a run of sustained results/performances. Or are we simply having a decent month, which quite frankly most of the 14 teams in SL are capable of having. The jury's still out for me on that score. As mentioned above, if we maintain this level of performance then we will probably be challenging for a top six spot once more. Whether we can remains to be seen.

As far as the C.Cup goes, who knows. As long as we don't get over confident and don't treat Widnes with respect then we should be into the last eight. After that, if the draw is kind to us (and say Wigan/Wire or Leeds/Sts come out together) and the team play at something approaching their best then it's not impossible that we could be celebrating at Wembley in August.

Don't forget, three years ago we were garbage and still found ourselves fifteen minutes away from lifting the trophy, so who really knows. My gut instinct is for a semi-final defeat to one of the big 3 (Wigan/Wire/Sts) but the Cup has too many variable factors to make any kind of informed prediction.

One things for sure, the second half of the season is potentially shaping up to be a damn sight more exciting than any of us could have realistically expected a month ago, even if our club is still a long way short of where it really should be, all things considered.

There's now way we'll be in the top four - we've lost too many games already. I think we have an outside chance of finishing 5th and to be honest, anything less should be deemed as regression. As For the Challenge Cup, who knows? Looking at the teams who look likely to be in the quarter-final draw with us (providing we get there), I'd say we're gonna need a home draw.

We've played well in the last four games but tomorrow night is a big test of how good we think we are. We've got virtually no injuries and with the team we'll be able to put out we need to go to Salford and win. Anything less and I think we're back to square one.

I don't think we stand any chance of a top four finish unless Saints, Wire, Wigan and Leeds suffer with major injuries towards the run in to the end of the season, we also have to keep winning our matches of course and as someone has already mentioned we have already lost to many matches already. Cup run will depend on form, injuries and belief. We beat SL opposition in every round to get to Cardiff in 2005 but this isn't the same team or Coach. Beat Widnes next, home draw the next round then take every game as it comes. We are capable of reaching the Wembley final this year but it will be hard going but I reckon this is more achieveable than a SL grand final.

4th is unlikely but dont write it off completely. If Saints beat Hudds on Saturday and we beat Salford and Hudds we will be 3 points away which is nothing with 12 to go. Its a cliche but we just need to keep
taking every game as it comes and if we can keep stringing performances together we will climb the table. Id be happy with 6th fir a home playoff.

The odd win or loss in the regular season won't make or break it. The inability to win the pressure games will

Hopefully we've learnt that nothings won in May. Getting to halfway 50% of points is a acceptable start (i know well be a point off even if we beat Salford) then we've got to get in good form for the later cup rounds and hit our best form for the playoffs.
I'd be disappointed if we don't win the rest of our home games and beat the sides below us in the league away from home.

11 out of 14 league games should be the aim.

14 out of 14 should be the aim, every team* should go into a game wanting to win, and I am sure we do

Would hardly class derby win, Wire away win and Saints draw in the space of 10 days an "odd".

It comes down to that all SL games matter, otherwise you don't get to the pressure games.
