"Richard Agar, get out of my club!!!" If only Barbara Windsor was our chairperson...:11526.jpg

If every squad member was out of contract at the end of the season, or each player could easily be offloaded without effecting the salary cap this is how I would see thingsByrne
YeamanThorman
Dowesbut on a medium sized wage.
CusackTickle
CrockerG.Horne
Thackray
Houghton
Briscoe: keep
Burnett: keep and give a 3 year contract to now
Lee: keep
Hall: keep. when Tony is back, use as starting centre and stop messing him around ffs. He has too much potential to be wasted by Agar
Maloney: keep. and please use him as 3rd choice
Hodgson: not played at 1st grade yet so can't judge
Moa: keep. and play him for longer! I havent seen him look knackered on the field once yet
Reardon. not played yet so hard to judge
Luauki: hasn't arrived yet so can't judge

Motu Tony - rid of
Mark Calderwood - undeserved flack we could sign greg inglis and put him on our right wing and he'd look crap, wasted a mo but wouldkeep
Kirk Yeaman - second row or centre keep
Gareth Raynor - wrong side of 30 seems to be picking up injuries rid of
Richard Horne - keep end of
Chris Thorman - rid of even if he does have a good rest of season not the answer for our problems imo
Ewan Dowes - keep end of
Shaun Berrigan - keep end of
Peter Cusack - rid of duplicate of all our forward line
Lee Radford - rid of see cusack
Danny Tickle - keep Kicker and good player on his day
Michael Crocker - keep(if he ever comes) nasty b*****d and a winning mentality something we don't have
Richard Whiting - keep squad player good rugby brain but would be better if he had pace as well
Danny Washbrook - keep used as a ball playing loose man
Willie Manu - one of the few tackle breakers we've got keep
Graeme Horne - rid of squad player
Jamie Thackray - tackle breaker impact prop keep
Paul King -rid of to many chances keeping hold for sake of it imo
Danny Houghton - keep can't see why lee is in front of him
Tom Briscoe - keep class youngster
Mike Burnett -keep solid second rower
Thomas Lee - rid of never make it imo would love to see where he would end up if he left
Craig Hall - keep class player
Dominic Maloney - from what i've seen keep
Josh Hodgson - haven't seen him apart from getting smashed all over in pre season
Sam Moa - keep fitness permiting
Hame Lauaki - keep on previously seen if he ever comes

'"

So out of 27 players you would release 9 and then expect us to sign at least 7 more players (to get an avarage squad size of 25) of their quality or better, all in one off season. It's not at all realistic.

Must get confusing with two Danny Washbrooks in the squad. One a ball playing loose man and the other one who played last Friday . .

Washys passing i the first half was very good, but he slipped back into the running mould second half.

Dont know why people are suprised he always had a decent passing game when he was in the Academy and his kicking wasnt bad either.

For me this week i would play him there again and allow him some freedom, if Horne is not back then Lee to partner him and just say to them, get out and play kike we know you can (and fook the usual game plan off)

Quote: Kosh "I agree we have potential, but right now our stature ain't so great. We're rapidly losing all the kudos we gained with regular top 6 finishes and final appearances - prospective players are likely to focus on the current problems instead.

Until we get a high quality coach we will struggle to attract the calibre of player required IMO - regardless of how much cash we wave around. All clubs have the same cap available now, remember.'"

Bingo.

Grade A, stadium, fan base counts for nothing if the team isnt cutting it on the park. Its nice to earn good money but its better to be earning it playing for a winning team with a coach who is respected.

Would keep him in the halves even if Horne was fit! Thorman out! doesn't matter if washy hasn't got a kicking game, neither has thorman on his performances so far. Just let berro or Tommy Lee kick from dummy half!

I agree he drifted out of the game (particularly in the 2nd half), I was just making the point that he is more than capable as a ball player, which was the criticism levelled at him.

And i agree he is more than capable as a ball player. FWIW he isnt the only one that drifts out of the game and we have looked a better attacking prospect this season when Washy is on the field.

I've only read a few posts on this thread and cant believe what people are saying about G. Horne. Yep, he aint world class, I'm sure he knows that. Clubs cant have 13 or 17 world class players in their ranks because of the cost. But he is a good solid player and his performances have suggested that. Also perhaps one reason is why he never developed as he or the club would of liked is because of poor coaching. It has been mentioned about Craig Hall and poor coaching and G. Horne is an example of this. He was a half back. Under Mcrae he was pi$$ed about and put in to the pack. This continued under Kear and Sharp. Think it took Agar to realise he was getting hammered in the pack and revert him in to the centres. But given chance at 7 the club may not have found themsleves crying out for a number 7. So before the lad is wrote off as average, i think its worth pointing out maybe why.

Agree about G.Hornes potential been coahced out of him, albeit I don't think it was on the same scale as Tommy Lee who seemed to have the world at his feet if you believed all the comments been thrown about when he was growing up and also when he reached 2nd grade level. I also think Hall showed more potential than him.
The problem with him now is that we need to sign a top centre desperately (along with a few other position I know) and if that happened, then I would prefare Hall and Whiting to cover the backs instead of him. And I feel 3 players like that covering the backs is 1 player too much

Shame Hall doesn't have the commitment or passion of G. Horne. I'd take G. Horne over Hall or Tommy Lee anytime
