That just shows what a joke it is that he plays for England.

Being non-fed trained and being eligible for England are completely different things, although the fact that non-fed is used as a proxy to keep out foreign types with convenient passport qualifications is the most open of secrets.
If Widdop or Reed came to SL they would be non-fed, despite being born in this country. They'd probably get dispensations, of course, because everybody does.
Laurence Pearce should be non-fed, technically.
It's a rule that tries to dance around the law, so it throws up some anomalies.

Irrelevant. He wasn't trained by a home federation and is therefore non-fed regardless of his residency or nationality. The RFL would have to issue special dispensation for him to become fed trained.

Neither would Widdop, Heighington or Reed, but I'd expect dispensation for them too.
I know it would open up a can of worms of everyone who can play pledging allegiance to England to help their clubs, but discretionary dispensation has to be given IMO.
They can't stop an England international moving freely within Super League.
I don't necessarily think it's right, just fair.

Yes they can. The two things are not linked at all.

It's neither IMO. And it would blow a hole through an already pretty fragile system to the long-term detriment of the game.

I don't disagree but that doesn't mean we should look at going even further in that direction.

Probably not far off, sadly.

How can they not be linked? All SL clubs follow the same rules & guidelines regarding Quota/non-fed places. I don't think an England international should be subject to either.

I have to say I agree. If we are idiotic enough to allow Chase to play for England, then he should automatically come off the quota / non fed list

Because the SL rules and guidelines don't apply to England. Or any of the other international sides for that matter. They operate under the auspices of the RLIF.
