Are they not the same thing? You were making the point that Sharp didn't blame Hall in as many words, but essentially he did. What's the difference?

| I've actually had a rummage back through various news archives to see if I could find the alleged comments by Sharp. Surprisingly enough not one single match report contains criticism of Hall. Who'd of thunk it.
Sharp is quoted in every report as blaming a depleted squad and having too many kids all playing at once. No mention of missed kicks.

The comments being referred to came from one post-match interview on Blunderside IIRC. As you can see above, none of the press conference quotes contained any reference to kicks.
As I recall, it was actually the interviewer who specifically asked if the missed kicks had cost us the game. Sharp at first denied it. The interviewer pressed the point and mentioned that the kicks were simple ones. Sharp said something along the lines of Hall would normally expect to kick those and would probably be disappointed that he didn't, and that he was only a kid and would learn from the experience. The interviewer then said something about if the kicks had gone over we'd have won, and Sharp agreed with him - which was the truth.
On here that quickly got converted into Sharp blaming Hall for the loss. Go figure.

Why the **** have you put quotes around that sentance? I never said Sharp used the words "2 simple kicks" I said that when he was asked about the kicks he said that as we only converted 4 from 6 it was a factor in us losing the game. It was me that added on the part about 2 of the kicks being fairly simple. He also mentioned several other factors, I'm sure if he was asked about somebody dropping the ball whilst attempting to score a try he would have said that was a factor as well.

As you cant distinguish between what is a quote and what is somebody re-hashing what was said you really should apply for that job at the HDM. Sharp never singled out Craig Hall for blame but when asked about the kicks he simply (and correctly) pointed out that it was a factor in the defeat but that if we had done our jobs properley in the first place those kicks wouldn't have mattered anyway.
Please try to get past my wording of my initial statement and realise it was not a direct quote of P.Sharp before we all die of boredom.

Yeah I remember it being on Humberside. I seem to remember him being asked about Hall's selection for his SL debut and subsequent kicking performance, and he made a comment along the lines of 'He was in the team to kick goals and didn't kick them all'.
As you say, not specifically pinning the blame of the result on Hall, but it is easy to see why the kid might have been a bit upset if he heard that kind of thing. Although that's something that should be easily sorted behind closed doors and only the smallest minority of us have even a chance of knowing how it all panned out between them, in the main it's simply gossip and conjecture.
IMO it was as much a case of Sharp being led down the garden path a bit whilst in the disappointing aftermath of a narrow defeat, it's no secret he wasn't entirely media savvy at times.

| Craigs a great lad and we have loved having him at Widnes and he will always be welcome back. I do hope he gets back in at Hull and shows what he can do. His try scoring record speaks for itself.

Agree. Craig is on of only a couple of players in our squad that has a natural gift attacking wise.

Never thought I'd say this but I'm beginning to like Paul Cullen.
