| Quote gostrider="gostrider"Its only hard to find his best position when theres crap playing in the other pivitol positions. He looked ok at scrum half because Jason Smith ran the show. He'd be fantastic at full back behind Long and Pryce.
If he played for Saints, like Wellens, he'd look great being put into space by Long's passes or returning the ball on his own forty.'"
i agree
this leads to another problem with our squad, we have to many players who dont have a position which they can say is theres e.g.
Tony, R Horne, Thorman, Berrigan, Radford, Whiting, Washbrook, G Horne, Briscoe, Lee, Hall, Hodgson
if you went through the saints team nearly all of them have a proper position

| Quote gostrider="gostrider"Sorry to upset the Horne fan club (and I love the kid) but he's not good enough to play half back. He cannot dictate a game ball in hand and only comes into his own in broken field. He has to be full back or centre. For this season though I would put Berro at scrum half and Horne at 6. Houghton a full 80 at 9. Far quicker than Lee at the play the ball.'"
As a total neutral happening to wander onto your board, this is true.
Horne smacks of 'should do better' - he has all the potential but never seems to fulfill. He doesn't seem to have the natural sight of a half back - he gets caught in possession too much. You need someone with more creativity and vision.
Felt for you tonight, it was your game but for some reason all tactical know-how and passion went out the window.

For me that comes under poor coaching though. Berro was signed to be our 9 - Agar comments 'that when Berro came on we looked better' - then subs him. Tony can play fullback and I believe has proved that. The rest I agree with. Its to easy to give them 'Utility' tags. A coaches way of saying 'god knows where to play him'. But if I took over Hull tomorrow 2 new half backs would be top of the list. Rich Horne fullback. New centre and Tony, Thorman, Radders, Washbrook, G Horne, Lee, hall would be gone

Surly this would come with a creative 7 and a prop that can offload ?. For me Horne should be scoring 20 tries a season but we have no decent offload or creativity within the side for Horne to feed off.

i know berrigan was signed as a hooker but through his career hes also played centre, stand off, scrum half and loose man
same with tony at hull hes played full back, wing, centre, hooker and probably has played stand off at some point maybe even loose man

Sorry wasnt having a go at you. Simply saying to sign Berro on such a contract and then not feel he can play 80 mins as Agar clearly doesnt means either its apoor signing - or a poor coach!

i know you want
i agree with the berrigan comment, hes our big name signing and he should play the full 80 all the time when available, otherwise its a complete waste
if it is down to fitness im dreading what he will be like in the 2011 season

| im thinking that its blatantly obviuos that thorman is not the answer to our problems....and neither is fitzgibbon...we seem to panic buy when we dont get the players we need....did we need berrigan? do we need fitzgibbon? the answer in my opinion is no...we need to build a team..and unfortuantly at fc we sign individuals. dont get me wrong there great players but they arent what we need at the moment to take us further.......our team looks like a rudder-less ship with no guidence whatsoever, a shambles in many peoples eyes and i agree that our recruitmant policy is a little short of appauling at times...
i ask what will happen if we fail to land either orford or finch!!?? thorman will get another year thats for sure, can you beleive...but thats fc at the moment, a laughing stock, one of which shoots itself in the foot on more tahn one occasion a season........if thorman gets a new deal, the my pass will not be renewed in a hurry..

I disagree with the Berrigan comment. At the time of Swain retiring, yes we needed Berrigan - has he been as influential as Swain. sadly not. However to me the signing of Dykes was key. Finally a coach in Sharp recognised we needed a top scrum half, unfortunately he was made of bolsar wood. The failing was then to replace him wit quality. Its the most integral part of a team. Fitzgibbon to me is just a 'appease the fans as Crocker aint coming signing' - and a poor one at that.
