Quote: Chris71 "My point is the RFL are the Governing body and as such are the Guardians of the sport and as such are responsible for the mess. No problem giving the SL Chairman a say but not of control on certain matters otherwise it just becomes a mess as it is now, too many chiefs and not enough Indians as the saying goes.'"
The RFL don't get to say what the SL club chairmen can and can't vote on. SL is owned outright by the clubs that comprise it at any given time and they can do pretty much whatever they like with it. It's surprising the number of people who don't realise that SL is privately owned and the RFL merely administer it on behalf of the owners.
Below SL the RFL have more say but are still constrained in certain matters by their constitution which grants certain rights to the clubs that comprise the lower leagues. As an example, they were not able to force the then NL1 clubs to admit us to their league when the merger was being organised.
British RL is far more democratic than most people realise - whether for good or ill.
