Getting HB's of genuine quality is a major problem for most sides of late just look at Wigan Matty Smith and Blake Green as their new pairing for next season as opposed to Leuluai & Finch!!!!

We have ultimately improved in that area already by signing Holdsworth on what we have had previously. I am sure AP will not have said what he said and ploughed in the amount of money not just into the club but its infrastructure and in particularly the junior set up and player facilities to not deliver.

I think many fans have got caught up in his words and gone off on a tangent misinterpreting what he has actually stated and meant. We are still awaiting the announcements of the final players to complete next seasons roster and until then we can not really comment on recruitment too much.

Had we not lost Sam (going home) & Willie going to St's I still think most would feel we are a much stronger team than we started with last season at this current point.

A decent FB and another HB and I think we will be a very decent side next season and one that will fit with Gentles plans.

It's called power and control, a thing they don't have in real life and they try to live it out in some sort of game. In fact the game is all in their heads based on what they think people want to hear for example Lyon, Locke and co. When reality strikes, in don't look to good does it!
Well I for one think it all looks very good in reality and with one or two other players yet to join (who I have no idea about) we'll go great next season.

Our Chairman has shown ambition the like of which has not been seen for years and years at Hull. The market is obviously a difficult place especially if clubs believe that we have money to splash around. The country's visa rules are a nightmare which hasn't helped. The squad for next season is looking stronger both in the pack and in the halves than the one that should have finished equal 4th this season and won a play off game. We have a top quality coach and are actively playing the best of our young players in the first team. This time next year we'll probably be looking stronger again for the following season. If we didn't get all of our targets this year then bad luck - keep working to improve and wait for top quality recruitment options when they arrive. The key point is that the ambition is there. Fretting and sniping at the Chairman and DoF when the club is on the up is just pathetic IMO.

Then all FC fans should....Wigan, Leeds, Warrington all examples of clubs with the right levels of facilities & infrastucture in place and all teams that have a wealth of young stars coming through as a result, and guess what all these clubs are in for the silverware every season. Bringing through are own youth is going to be massive in the coming seasons, I for one was very pleased to see this area as one of the first that AP tackled.

I expect to see further improvement from FC next year (4th would be an achievement), with the team we are putting together we will be more competitive against the big teams next season (Wigan the only team we didn't take points offf in 2012) but not expecting any silverware, it just ain't going to happen overnight.

With regards recruitment we only appear to have missed out so far on Chase as a confirmed target (still awaiting official confirmation on the web site that this is dead, might still have legs) and I seem to recall reading that we had spoken to Lopini Paea but don't think anyone at FC claimed he was a definately target? Agents are hawking their players around all the time and we are bound to be linked because of AP stating we have cash to get the right players. He did say words along the lines of we need a new 6 & 7 we know the best 4 in SL and we will get 2 of them, that might not come off but not for lack of trying.

I'm more concerned with pass sales at the moment, think if we don't get minimum of 8,500 it will be a dissapointment. Not got mine yet but nothing to do with recruitment, just not got round to it yet, I would have been renewing anyway and hopefully there are a lot like me or just keeping the funds in their own accounts until the last minute.

I've spoken to people who genuinley believed that Benji Marshal was a target. Dumb, yes, but rumours start and spread quickly, then even sometimes get to the papers. Then when they do turn out to be bulle, the club gets the flak for 'again missing out on a target'.

There just aren't any top quality half backs available. It doesn't matter how much money AP is willing to spend.

Are Wire going to sell us one of theirs? Are Leeds or Saints? As Chris71 said Wigan have had to replace Finch and Leuleuai with Smith and Green.

You can forget about a top Aussie too. The days of players like Sterling and Kenny coming to Britain are long gone. No way are players at the top of their game like Marshall, Cronk, Thurston etc going to come over here due to the increase in the NRL salary cap and the exchange rate.

Chase was the only top class half back who could have been available. The club tried to sign him but has apparently failed.

We did well to get Holdsworth IMO.

We do need another half back though and I hope that the club can pull something out of the hat but I don't know where from, maybe an NRL youngster (if he can get a visa). I don't think there is anyone in the Championship who is ready to step up.

What we need for the future is to grow our own like Wigan and Saints which is why AP is right to put such emphasis on the youth set up. However for the short term I really don't know what the answer is.

I am reasonably happy with our recruitment to date but if we can sign another half back and a specialist full back I will be very happy.

You need to choose your company with more care

Like I have mentioned I am not happy with some of the spin and I fear it has set expectations too high mine included, I think Bomber needs to be more thoughtful about what he says as all he appears to do is waffle, I agree with most AP has maybe set our expectations too high and I am sure lessons maybe learnt from that . Hopefully we have another h/back on the radar, I am very happy with AP & Gentle and impressed with what they have done with the club, but imo so far we have not recruited as strongly as I anticipated considering the players we have lost but that is just my opinion. However I still think Gentle will get us into top 4 next season. The bottom line is the club will come in for criticism on occasions and there is nothing wrong with that, fans do it because they love the club, it certainly does make us appalling fans imo.

I've spoken to people who claim to have been abducted by Aliens, given a good screwing and fish n chips before being brought back.
