Quote: Mrs Barista "So to be clear, you're saying overall shirt sales are down this year? I've bought three over the last four seasons, but bought both this year, first time I've ever done that.'"

IF overall shirt sales are down it'll be more to do with less people going to games (approx 2.5k less on average than 2010) more than anything. I have a lot to criticise the club for, but merchandise isn't one of them. I'm not a fan of the Magic shirt but the others look great this year and the club shop is always well stocked. Some other clubs don't even manage to get their shirts out in time for Xmas, people need to get some perspective.

Any bad decisions Pearson makes (and yes there have been some) first and foremost hurt himself in a very real manner. So I very much doubt that he's going to deliberately go about losing chunks of his money if he can at all help it. There is no financial wizardry alone that can get him out of this mess, no assets to strip off like some spiv owners in other sports have so the only way he can get back the money is by improving the club and getting fans put their cash into it. That's good because if that isn't a big incentive to improve I don't know what is. Let's hope he is learning from his mistakes. Furthermore as the dobbin supporters always tell us he isn't a real supporter and only in for the cash - that is also good because the emotional part of the club should be with the fans and a cooler head is needed for the sometimes cruel but necessary decisions high level sport needs.

And to repeat to the moaners, who is a realistic alternative? Not that it would make much difference as they would be whinging about them in no time if it ever happened.

Good luck with getting an answer to that. Asked three times, radio silence... icon_lol.gif

Anybody ever thought that albeit he's wealthy and from a sporting background he knows feck all about league and how to recruit coaches and players?
Not a dig but genuine question.

Maybe. But Hudgell knows league, recruited Sandercock and has signed about 20 players who've left Rovers before their deal was up. I'm not saying Pearson's done well, but knowledge of the game doesn't guarantee good judgement.

In Pearson's defence it's arguably the hardest time since SL started to sign quality players, due to the NRL salary cap and exchange rate changes the big name Aussies don't want to come anymore, and Union is also an option for players like Burgess and Eastmond. 5 or 10 years ago you'd have expected the ageing Aussie stars like Slater, Thurston and Smith to give SL a go for a couple of years, now they'll stay at home and see their career out.

You then get left with a smaller pool of British players, South sea Islanders and relatively unknown Aussies moving between the clubs. While clubs with well run youth systems like Leeds and Wigan keep their own home grown talent.

It doesn't excuse some of the frankly embarrassing transfer dealings of the last 3/4 years, but it's not as easy as the days when we added the likes of Jason Smith, Swain and Kearney to an already decent team and they added the cherry on to the top of the cake.

Yes because we are the only ones that this applies too.
Its not about the quality of player that we can now sign we are in the same boat as everyone in terms of who we recruit and the salary cap we spend.
Rovers found Kelly.
Saints have rejuvenated altea vea and so the story continues.
The cap and player pool levels the playing field and so the quality of coaching becomes paramount and that is where Pearson is failing by still employing our coach.

Quote: hokeydokey "Was going to start with "i dont believe what i am reading" but unfortunately I am. How on earth you can criticise pearson is beyond me.If some billionaire come along with no connection or knowledge of the game along wanting to buy ,would we turn him away because he is not a "rugby man"? yes he has made mistakes through listening to advice from "Rugby men"In any sport you need luck and for Fc thats something we have not had I just hope that Pearson takes all this crap on the chin or it could spell the end because I cannot see anyone coming in knowing the abuse they are likely to get'"

Please point out exactly what I have stated is untrue/false/inaccurate?

Quote: hokeydokey "Hey if bumpy says it, it's true.

He's the foremost authority on all aspects of running a business, man-management, structuring a training plan, coaching, conditioning, you name it he's the man.'"

Thanks, I'm glad you appreciate my skillset, now instead of being a facetious know-nowt why not rebuff what I've said with a cogent arguement.
Nothing I have said is untrue/inaccurate, but if you'd like to point out exactly what I've said isn't then go ahead instead of being so lame.

PS, I don't know much about conditioning, I've never hinted I do, nor indeed training with regard to rugby which I've stated exactly as much previously, I was more happy to be instructed and be a workhorse on the field. What I do know is understanding people, understanding psychology in the work place, man management and running a successful business. clearly you can't accept that a person is capable of such, how pitiful that your world is so closed.

Ah, another bandwagon banjo boy without the capability to offer any open minded opinion or thought..have you ever thought about just copying and pasting some of the others posts slagging me off, save you the time getting a dictionary out for those big words ..just a thought tiger. icon_lol.gif

Ah bless. Perhaps when you come down off your pedestal you'll see a little bit of banter when its put to you. And for your information I'm not a banjo boy and resent the remark. Perhaps when you've been following the club for over 50 years you may learn a little respect for those who have.
