Not sure about that Jake 27 with just two NRL games, it would have been a melt down on here if he had signed for us, 3 year deal aswell.



Rovers have big problems if they lose Burns aswell as Hodgson.

He didnt sign for newcastle till 2012,and has played in the 2nd grade for the last 2 seasons and been the leagues top points scorer each season,also been selected for the NSW team of the year each season.Still a very good standard and IMO is well worth a punt.

Just reading on zero tackle nrl,could have had a contract at numerous nrl clubs but chose to play NSW cup for newcastle.Seems to be well thought by the fans.

Not sure a three year contract constitutes a "punt".

How many posts on here have bemoaned the lack of a goal kicker this season? The difference between narrow wins or narrow defeats in 2 or 3 games can have a huge bearing on the table.

Not the type of player we need - we need a Willie Manu, Ben Te'o style player IMO

We have Snyed for next season but I think Rankin is just as good if not better.

Its a pity that the club didn't know how good Rankin was as a place kicker or Rankin himself didn't put his hand up when we were struggling with Whiting,and Miller.

Westerman seemingly didn't want the job and although Ben Crooks could become a good kicker Rankin like Burns at HKR has turned out to be first class.

Rankin has a success rate of 90% although only had about 30 odd attempts. It's still an excellent return.

Just because he's playing grade b doesn't mean he's crap. Don't get me wrong, for all I know he might be as never seen him myself,but look at dobson, that's all he can manage.

Opinions are usually formed on the information available to you. I.e. At 27 he's only played two NRL games but has been quite successful in the lower league. I think in Superleague terms it's fair to assume that he will be an average player. That is just an opinion, of course!
