Originally I wanted Rankin & Miller as I think they will compliment each other well. That said Miller hasn't really forced himself into the side yet and Horne on form is a better player. Either way Rankin has to play.

Slightly harsh on Miller perhaps as he hasn't had big minutes with the first teamers.

So you'd rather go in with 2 running half backs and Hornes drop off all game?'"

Sounds better than miller's "headless chicken" routine. I hope he does come good as we're desperate for him to but I've seen nothing to suggest he's anywhere near being a playmaker for a decent SL club.

I do think the consistency in the halves is very important, but I think I would go with Horne and Rankin for our first game. Horney had a decent second stint yesterday. Happy with either Horne or Miller though, fans of both players for different reasons.

No point having consistency if the players aren't good enough

He must have a little something if Tim Sheens put him in the first team at 18, a junior kangaroo and named as half back of the Toyota comp 2 seasons ago.

Are you really suggesting that Tim Sheens know more than Jake. Behave yourself!!

I like the look of Rankin, could run at the line, sidestep and break a tackle. Hope he can get a good run of games in. Also liked the look of HTW considering his age and lack of experience.

As for Miller, he was quiet yesterday but nothing worrying at this stage of the season. I'd probably choose Horne and Rankin going on yesterday, but I'm sure that'll change as the season gets going.

Miller you mean? Horney? Or both?

What's your first opinion of Rankin?

Agreed that Rankin self-selects. Would probably go with Horne as it stands.

I wonder what the club's long term plans are for HTW? Yeaman was getting first team football from his age. I know scrum half is a different proposition, but in terms of judging his readiness/potential do the club see him stepping up in 1 year, or 3, for example?

He's been fast tracked already so it would suggest they rate him highly and are looking to put gametime into him. Maybe a CC match against a lower league side and then possibly a SL game at some stage. Still has some developing physically to do. I would imagine they would like him ready for 2016. 2015 seems optimistic to me.

We're heading toward relegation seasons. If we're putting in very young rookies, we'd need to be comfortably away from that zone.
